Rainy Portugal Worldschooling days look like this 🤍
Coworking at an indoor play space, amazing food, after starting the day at the ocean while V plays in the sand with all our new worldschool friends from the Hub.

As a single mama, homeschooler, and US traveler, I’ve been so surprised by how warm and welcoming Portugal has been, especially to Americans and expats living here. I was honestly nervous traveling abroad as an American right now, and yet, this is the most welcomed I’ve ever felt.

It’s also the first country I’ve ever driven in, and doing it solo with a kid had me nervous at first, but it’s incredibly easy to get around. Calm roads, kind drivers, everything feels doable.

Locals keep joking that I should find an EU man to marry so we can stay, and we all laugh at how ironic it is that the US passport isn’t the flex it used to be.

Note to the Ladies: LEAVE your toxic partners/marriages/situationships sooner.

Life is Soooooo much better on the other side, esp if you can heal from it abroad 🤣💃I knew it was better after divorce but I’d forgotten in this last relationship.

The goal now, more ease, safety, and joy in all areas of life and never settling again 🌍🤍

One truck holds all of my belongings but nothing of true belonging. It holds my valuables but nothing of true value. To belong is one of life’s greatest comforts. To be valued is what we often seek in relationships. We are born and raised being told we belong to our caregivers and that our value is contingent on our production, on what we do. To stay quiet and just do as we are told.

Then, one day we grow up to go look for the next person to belong to…when all along we belonged to ourselves and what we sought was connection rather than belonging. We were born valuable and only degraded our value trying to live up to the world’s expectations. We sought legitimacy and worthiness when it was inside all along. We are born worthy. We lower our expectations of others to maintain those connections of emptiness. We are connected internally and only need to slow down to feel it. Welcome to my healing journey…
