We have a VERY important request on behalf of the ladies attending the 18th Annual Girls Night Out Altoona! 💃🎀

Please consider this your official notice that your employees may require a few special accommodations next week.

💄 WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 21: Early dismissal is requested. Hair appointments, makeup, outfit changes, and getting glam for a night out supporting a great cause are all considered essential activities.

☕ THURSDAY, OCTOBER 22: A delayed arrival is strongly encouraged. Side effects from the previous evening may include sore feet, lost voices, excessive laughter, questionable shoe decisions, and an overwhelming number of photos to review.

We also respectfully request that you refrain from scheduling any 8:00 a.m. meetings on Thursday. 😂

After all, these ladies aren’t just going out for a good time. They’re showing up to support those affected by cancer and make a difference in our community. 💗

To our attendees: We’ve done our part. Your official permission slip is attached. Save it, print it, or forward it directly to your boss. You’re welcome! 😉

To the bosses: Surely you can make an exception when it’s for such a great cause?!

💗 THINK BEYOND THE PINK: WHERE DOES YOUR DONATION ACTUALLY GO?

We’ve talked about buying pink. We’ve talked about donating directly.

But here’s another important question:

Once you donate, do you know where your money goes?

Whether you’re supporting breast cancer research, a local fundraiser, an animal rescue, or any other nonprofit, you deserve to understand how your generosity is being used.

Before donating, ask:

🔎 What is the organization’s mission? Who are they actually helping?

🔎 Where does the money go? What programs, services, or initiatives does it support?

🔎 How much does it cost to operate? Fundraising and administrative expenses are normal, but transparency matters.

🔎 Can they demonstrate their impact? What has your support helped accomplish?

🔎 Are their financials available? Can you see how money is raised and spent?

Here’s something we believe strongly at Girls Night Out Altoona:

Donors shouldn’t have to feel uncomfortable asking questions about money.

And nonprofits shouldn’t be uncomfortable answering them.

That includes us.

Because generosity deserves gratitude. And trust deserves transparency.

Thank you Altoona Area School District!

Thanks to former CARES Club president Maggie Brouse who spearheaded a pink lemonade fundraiser last school year to benefit Girls Night Out Altoona, Inc.

Stopping by the school today to receive the gift was Megan Steinbugl, Girls Night Out, Inc. and presenting the check was current CARES Club president Ryann Lantzy and Maggie Brouse.

BUYING PINK ≠ DONATING

Here’s an important distinction:

Buying something isn’t the same as making a donation.

Maybe you spend $30 on a pink sweatshirt and $1 goes to a breast cancer organization.

That doesn’t make the sweatshirt bad.

And that $1 can absolutely add up when thousands of people participate.

But if your primary goal is to make the biggest charitable impact with your money, ask yourself:

Would I rather buy the product — or give directly to the organization doing the work?

Sometimes the answer is both.

The important part is knowing the difference.

2️⃣ Which organization receives the donation?

3️⃣ Is there a maximum donation?

4️⃣ What will the money support?

5️⃣ Would I make a bigger impact by donating directly?

You don’t have to stop buying pink.

You just need to know what your pink purchase actually does.
