2023 Duncans Mills Civil War Days canceled.

The Sonoma county engineering Dept informed the DM CWD committee the only site access road (Freezeout road) will be closed sometime this summer for 2019 storm damage repairs. Due to closure restrictions, it is impractical to hold the event this year. It is the same reason as last year, as repairs were not started last summer.

2022 Duncans Mills Civil War Days canceled.

The CHAS/ACWA DM CWD’s committee was diligently working on getting critical permits for this event. Recently, we discovered the only site access road is likely to be closed this summer for 2019 storm damage repairs. Due to Freezeout road closures, it makes it impractical to hold the event this year.

Duncans Mills Civil War Days Event 2021 postponed until July 16th & 17th 2022.

Due to Covid 19 restrictions in Sonoma County, the county permit office is not able to accept permit applications for Special Events such as Duncans Mills Civil War Days. The permitting process usually takes 3-4 months to complete. The county permit has always been the key to starting the event rolling down the path to fruition. We have just run out of time to insure we have a permit. The California Historical Artillery Society (CHAS) and The American Civil War Association (ACWA) organizations have been diligently working on planning this event and are disappointed we cannot deliver this year. We know many of you are DM supporters and wish to see Duncans Mills Civil War Days continue. Rest assured, the DM CWD Event team will be working on making Duncans Mills Civil War Days 2022 - July 16th & 17th 2022 as fantastic as those of the past.

CHAS and ACWA are working together to plan and host the July 17&18 2021 Duncans Mills Civil War Days Event. At the present time the county is not issuing requisite event permits. Since the county permit office is closed we do not know when a permit will be issued nor what special conditions will apply. Your patience and continued support are greatly appreciated.

Civil War Days at Duncan's Mills - July 17-18 2021 - Charging Forward to a Great Event next year.

Official Word has come in. Here is a message from the President of CHAS in regards to Civil War Days Duncan's Mills.
This year's annual Civil War Days at Duncans Mills, scheduled for 25 -26 July 2020, is cancelled.

The decision by the California Historical Artillery Society (CHAS) to cancel this premier West Coast Civil War reenacting event is disappointing, but necessary. We are faced with the uncertainty of being able to hold large events this summer and the very real possibility of county permits being pulled at the last minute due to the continuing impact of the COVID-19 restrictions. These considerations, along with the considerable pre-event planning, expenses, and site preparation needed, compelled CHAS to make the difficult decision to cancel the event for this year and to concentrate on planning for next year's Civil War Days at Duncans Mills to be held 17 & 18 July 2021.

To all our friends in the Civil War reenacting community and our supporters who have helped make the Civil War Days at Duncans Mills such an enjoyable event for the past two decades, we at CHAS are deeply appreciative of your contributions and we look forward to seeing you all again in July 2021.

Until then, please stay safe.
Ted Miljevich
President
