We read that having anxiety makes it hard to trust. Could it be the other way around? Maybe an inability to trust causes anxiety. If we don’t truly believe that as we go through life God is on our side, will be with us in the challenges, help us through the difficult times, grow us through our relational problems and work all things to our good, anxiety will be ever present. As we draw closer to God, our trust in Him grows, and our anxiety lessens.

So much meanness in the world. I Corinthians reminds us, "Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance."

"SOMETIMES WE GET SO CARRIED AWAY TRYING TO BE RIGHT THAT WE FORGET TO BE KIND."

Something to ponder in a time when we are all so sure of what we “know”. This is why humility is so important.

“What everybody echoes, or in
silence passes by as true today may turn out to be falsehood tomorrow, mere smoke of opinion, which some had trusted for a cloud that would sprinkle fertilizing rain on their fields”. Henry David Thoreau in his book “Walden and other Writings”

TAKE A CHALLENGE!
Consider taking one of the below challenges to help improve one of your relationships, or make your community circle a better place. If you decide to take one of these challenges, please "like" this post.

Why am I thinking about this? Yesterday, while driving, I heard Shaunti Feldhahn interviewed on K-WAVE. She was being joined by James Dobson to promote the "30-Day Kindness Challenge". Should you choose this particular challenge, you are committing to a thirty-day period where you select one person in your life and commit to the following:

1) Saying nothing negative about that person – either to them or about them to anyone else.
2) Each day find one positive thing you can praise or affirm about that person and tell them, and tell someone else.
3) Each day do one small act of kindness or generosity for them.

If that challenge doesn't interest you, may I suggest some alternatives? Commit for 30 days to abstain from arguing about politics, or from complaining, or talking negatively about people you know. Or commit for 30 days to running down a list of all the things and people in your life you are grateful for so you can develop a contagious attitude of gratitude.

Would you like to choose one of these challenges? We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us, and we can make a difference.
