Uniontown Poultry Association

Uniontown Poultry Association Southwestern PA's largest & oldest poultry association. We're about education, buy-sell-trade, and of course, exhibition of purebred poultry.

"From the Backyard to the Show Hall, We Love Them All!" We are one of the region's largest, oldest, and most active poultry associations. We are open to all comers and do not discriminate in our membership. Our members come from diverse backgrounds, united in our enthusiasm for poultry and rabbits, their breeding and exhibition. We also support education of things poultry and rabbit, teaching inst

ructional classes to 4-H groups, elementary school children, and interested citizens. We have taught 14 free "Basics of Backyard Chickens" classes in and around the Pittsburgh area, associated with Carnegie Libraries - classes that included handouts and hands-on chicken handling for interested attendees. We also host a Buy-Sell-Trade the third Sunday of March - November (but not in July because of the fair). Our Buy-Sell-Trades are well known for their variety & large attendance. At a typical Buy-Sell-Trade, you can find hatching eggs, peeps, young birds, waterfowl, peacocks, goats, guineas, turkeys, rabbits, supplies, coops & hutches, house plants, small livestock, household items, poultry and rabbit supplies, honey, farm produce, tools, and more. No two Buy-Sell-Trades are the same!

*NEWS* Our June 15th Buy-Sell-Trade…

Out of an abundance of caution, considering that it’s the start of the Fair season and heavy bird migration continues, the Fayette County Fair Board has requested that we cancel our June BST and continue our BST after the Fayette County Fair has concluded.

As such, we will be canceling our June 15th BST. We do not have a July BST because of the Fair and our next scheduled BST is on Sunday, August 17th.

We hope to see you all in August!!!

We will continue to have our Buy-Sell-Trade events unless notified by the Fayette County Fair Board or PA State. You can help with this by making sure that when you bring HEALTHY poultry to our BST, set up your sale area so that any materials generated can be collected and disposed of properly or before you leave clean up your sale area - including feathers and manure.

We really enjoy our BSTs and we hope you do to. We look forward to seeing you on Sunday, March 16th, bright and early!!

Chickens take dust baths to clean their feathers, control parasites, and prevent feathers from becoming too oily. They prefer dry loose soil or sand and often choose the ground underneath their coop. You can also create a dust bath for your chickens by following these steps:
• Dig a hole approx. 60cm in diameter and approx. 20cm in depth.
• Add some sand.
• Add peat moss.
• Add sulfur dust. Helps with controlling Northern Fowl Mites.
• Add Diatomaceous Earth.
• Add wood ash to the dust bath. Wood ash or ash from a fireplace can be a good contribution to your chicken's dust bath, adding vitamins and further deterring pests.
• Add some fragrant herbs.
