In honor of Alumni Month, we are proud to award one outstanding alumnus a $500 scholarship to support their continued journey through trade school or university. 🎓⭐

After a completed application process, we are honored to present this scholarship to Alumni Mario Koch of Greater Cleveland Young Marines. Mario is a senior at Ohio University with a study in Athletic Training, and will be continuing his Masters of Athletic Training in the fall. This scholarship reflects our commitment to giving back to our members and supporting alumni as they continue to grow, lead, and serve beyond the program.

“Being an athletic trainer was my decision based off of my experiences in the Young Marines. Having to complete operational risk management sheets helped prepare me for patient risk forms. First aid classes helped me learn how to properly carry myself in serious medical situations. My favorite activity in the Young Marines was always close order drill. It always helped me remain calm under pressure, which is something that is crucial when in any situation, not just professionally. I can thank Young Marines for those traits.”

Closing out Alumni Spotlight Month, we’re honored to highlight Anna Saucedo 🇺🇸⭐

Anna was part of the Young Marines from 2013–2018 and achieved the rank of YM/SgtMaj. She is a former Division 6 Young Marine of the Year and now proudly serves as a Combat Engineer Platoon Commander in the United States Marine Corps.

“The Young Marines organization taught me the power of resiliency in the face of challenges and obstacles. I learned how to set goals to strive for, but quickly found the importance of a support system, and gained lifelong friendships in the process. I was humbled with once-in-a-lifetime experiences to offer my appreciation to Navajo Code Talkers, Pearl Harbor survivors, and countless other retired and active service members, and for that I am forever grateful.”
