American Indian Society of Washington, DC Community Support - Cultural Education - Common Ground

AISDC was established in 1966. With them they brought their ancestral traditions.

Over the years, Indian people of many different tribes moved into the metropolitan area of Washington, D.C. Always they looked for companionship with other people of similar history and interests. For more than 55 years, the American Indian Society has worked to support the goals it established in 1966: to preserve Indian culture and perpetuate Indian tradition; to promote fellowship among members

to all American Indian tribes; to enlighten the public and encourage better understanding of the Indian people; and to assist young Indian boys and girls in their academic studies. We hope you will join us to support the next generation of native leaders and continue our work to preserve Indian culture in this nation.

Join us at the 9th annual PRFF film festival in Richmond VA! We love the music of Pura Fe and Cary Morin.

Pocahontas Reframed Film Festival is proud and excited to welcome Pura Fé and Cary Morin back to Richmond. Their Saturday night performance will be a highlight of the 2025 festival.

Cary Morin has been described as “one of the best pickers on the scene today.” Morin brings together the great musical traditions of America like no other. With deft fingerstyle guitar and vocals that convey melodic elation and gritty world-weariness, Morin crafts a style often characterized as full-throttle Native Americana.

Although she was originally born and raised in New York City, Pura Fé has chosen to lay her guitars in Saskatchewan, Canada. Pura Fé, an heir to the Tuscarora Indian Nation, is an artist, an activist, and much more. She draws a large part of her inspiration from her rich First Nation heritage while writing about today’s problems.

Together, Pura Fé and Cary Morin are a powerful First Nations duo, with strong vocal harmonies and masterful guitar work. Join us at the Virginia Museum of History & Culture on November 22 at 7:00pm to enjoy a special 90-minute performance!
