Dumas VFW Post 9022

Dumas VFW Post 9022 The VFW is a veterans service organization that advocates for veterans rights and benefits, sponsors youth programs and scholarships, and much, much more.

Originally founded in 1899, as the American Veterans of Foreign Service, the VFW continues to be a voice for veterans, currently deployed members of our Armed Forces, and their families. The 2.4 million members of the VFW and its Auxiliaries are located in 8,500 VFW Posts around the world. We are at heart an organization dedicated to providing a place for all of those who have sacrificed in our na

tion’s conflicts abroad. While we are a national organization, we express this dedication through our local posts and programs to support veterans service members, and their families. Dumas Post was chartered in 1991 by veterans who wanted a place where they could bring their families who could participate in events and other activities. Herb Ridley, Ed Phillips, Wayne Mauck, and Ed Roberts were the WWII veterans instrumental in acquiring the charter. A host of WWII, Korean, and Viet Nam veterans from Dumas, Dalhart, Sunray and Stratford joined the organization. Ed Roberts was the first Post Commander.

Hey everyone I just got done filling out the board on my Triggered Fi****ms LLC page if you want to see the live. Thank you to everyone that showed support by purchasing a square!! We didn’t fill the board this year so if it hits a blank square then the fi****ms will be sold or raffled off. Doing it this way doesn’t affect the odds if you purchased a square and also helps the post raise the money that they would have if they filled the board! Thank you all for your support!!!

Hi everyone,
It is that time of the year again when the VFW Post is collecting the essays for our Voice of Democracy contest. The Post level scholarship is given out as a $250 check. The winner at the Post level then goes to the district level for another chance at a prize and this continues all the way to the national level! This helps the Post as well as the students!! Essays are due by Oct 31st and its as easy as reaching out to me! Here is the information and please feel free to reach out with any questions.

If you are a democracy-loving high school student interested in a $30,000 college scholarship or a patriotic middle school student interested in winning $5,000, these scholarships may be for you.

To the Moore County families and surrounding areas:
Dumas is looking to start an Auxiliary for our local VFW Post. Dumas has not had an Auxiliary in over 15 long years!

What does an Auxiliary do? The VFW Auxiliary helps to improve the lives of all Veterans, service members, and their families. We also volunteer in our communities to help others and improve their lives as well.

Who can join? We are looking to the spouses, parents, grand-parents, siblings, children and grandchildren (must be at least 16 and older), of those who have served or are still serving in a foreign war. This is a very special way of helping and showing appreciation to the Veterans and Active Duty Soldiers.

If you are interested or have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. You can reach me at 314-520-1884, message me through fb or even send me an email at [email protected]

We look forward to hearing from you!

We hope everyone had a blessed holiday. As many of you know we had our first annual comedy night in August to raise funds for Project Christmas 2024. We raised over $7,500.00 with the majority being donated to our local food pantry (Dumas Education and Social Ministries) and helped them distribute Christmas dinners to 350 families. Last year we helped distribute dinners to 50 families. We never expected it to get this big this fast. Additionally we partnered with the Ridge Tree Project, First Baptist Church, Destination Ford, Ram Country, Wal Mart and the Tim Sally Law Office in Dumas to collect and deliver toys to children in ages ranging from 6 months to 15 years of age. Without our help these children might not have had a joyful Christmas. On two Saturdays in mid-December we set up in the parking lot at Wal Mart and offered shoppers the opportunity to purchase gifts for the children. In 8 hours on the first Saturday we collected toys from shoppers and received over $800.00 in donations toward the purchase of additional toys. On December 22, members of the Ridge Tree Project, First Baptist Church, American Legion and VFW wrapped over 230 gifts for the children. On Christmas Eve, Terry Vogel, past Commander of American Legion Post 224 and disguised as Santa Claus, personally delivered Christmas gifts to 76 children in Dumas, Etter and Cactus. This endeavor could not have been possible without the generous financial support of our community. Many thanks to our community and the members of the Ridge Tree Project, First Baptist Church Missions Committee, American Legion and VFW posts for making dreams become a reality.
If you would like to help us continue to make dreams like this continue and grow please reach out to us we would love to be able to start our auxiliary that helps the post with projects like this!!
