So I created a pageโ€ฆ
A page where I am open and honest about my mental health, my stories that brought me to where I am, things Iโ€™m actively learning about myself the more I do therapy and psychiatry.

I am not looking for sympathy. It is for education and possible understanding along with giving me a space to get out of my comfort zone and work on myself out loud. None of my truths are intended to hurt anyone, but the truth is, they hurt me. We cannot control other peoples feelings, we can only control ourselves. And if someone has a persona targeted feeling regarding anything I share, then perhaps you should pause and think about why that is.

We are all entitled to our feelings, I am learning to apply that to myself.
Itโ€™s not pretty, I am honesty a pretty dark person I just do well to hide it. But Iโ€™m tired of hiding myself.

Even though I no longer have People for the People, I intend to advocate for mental health and recovery. You are not alone.

Be kind. If you donโ€™t genuinely care to know or understand me then do not follow the pageโ€ฆ but if your curious, and maybe you will learn something about yourself, then join my circus ๐Ÿ™ƒ

Unwanted Thoughts is exactly how I feel about my mind.

I have created this page to be a part of my mental health journey. Warning: it can get dark.

It is with heavy hearts that we have made the decision and announce that we are dissolving People for the People. We have been a nonprofit organization since December 27, 2024 and have hosted two annual recovery events.

Our mission of People for the People was to eliminate the stigma and shame surrounding mental health and substance use challenges by providing accessible opportunities for community connection, empowerment, and growth. Through these last two years I believe we made significant progress in our community and we are incredibly grateful for everyone who supported our efforts. We want to give a huge thank you to organizations who hugely impacted our work, Healthy WashCo for giving us the opportunity of receiving the AODA mini grant two years in a row, Lakeland Family Resource Center for allowing us to assist and participate in local community events, Wisconsin Voices for Recovery for presenting us with a $500 Wisconsin Voices for Recovery grant, Marshfield Clinic for the $100 community grant, and Roger Ray Bird for his endless support and guidance.

With all this being said, we are canceling the 2026 Recovery Picnic that was going to be held September 12, 2026 at the Shell Lake Beach. We are also canceling our upcoming fundraising event that was going to be hosted at the Crossroads Bowling Alley in Spooner, and our annual Halloween Trick or Treat Booth in Hayward.

Our organization's final funds totaled $620.42 and our board has decided and voted that we split the remaining funds and disperse them to two local organizations who have helped us immensely the last two years. $310.21 is being given to Lakeland Family Resource Center, and the remaining $310.21 is being given to Healthy WashCo. We have finalizations to make, emails to send and connections to reach out too.

This decision did not come easy, unfortunately we have struggled with finding volunteers to help us carry out our mission, the few that we are grateful to have had are sadly unable to keep up the pace of continuing the commitments the organization requires.

We appreciate and love all of you and wish you all nothing but the best in whatever phase your journey is in!

With love, Kayla MacLellan, Founder & the Board. ๐Ÿ–ค

We were contacted by Lora who is a recovery coach with We Support Recovery about a sober softball day event they are hosting at the Cumberland middle school field on June 14th!

This is a wonderful idea and we love supporting fellow organizations working to support the recovery community and provide connection opportunities! Together we can!
