Join us Wednesday morning at 7:30am at the Kitchi Gammi Club as we hear from Kelly Peterson, Executive Director of Superior Business Improvement District and Co-Founder of Twin Ports Business Alliance.

Peterson will speak to the club on her experience specifically as the Co-Founder of Twin Ports Business Alliance (TPBA). TPBA is a grassroots organization supporting commerce in both Duluth, MN and Superior, WI in anticipation of, and during, the Blatnick Bridge closure.

The TPBA started as a brainstorming group around the impacts of the Blatnick Bridge reconstruction but has since evolved to bring together businesses and community leaders from both sides of the Twin Ports. TPBA's purpose is to collaborate to support and promote businesses. Its leadership plans to share regular project updates with businesses and community members and resources and marketing opportunities to support local businesses. TPBA's first project will be the TPBA Passport Program.

Join us Wednesday morning at 7:30am at the Kitchi Gammi Club as we hear from Silver Medalist Olympic Curlers Cory Thiesse and Korey Dropkin!

Cory and Korey are a mixed doubles curling team based in Duluth, Minnesota. They began curling together in 2022 and quickly established themselves as one of the top mixed doubles teams in the United States.

In 2023, they made history by capturing the United States’ first World Championship title in mixed doubles curling. With their sights set on the Olympics, they continued to train and compete at the highest level, ultimately winning the 2025 U.S. Olympic Trials and earning the opportunity to represent the United States at the 2026 Milano-Cortina Winter Games.

At the Olympics, Cory and Korey delivered another historic performance, winning the silver medal and becoming the first U.S. Mixed Doubles curling team to bring home an Olympic medal. Cory Thiesse also became the first American female curler to win an Olympic medal.

From a newly formed team in Duluth to World Champions and Olympic medalists, Cory and Korey’s journey has been defined by determination, teamwork, and a drive to compete at the highest level. They continue to train and compete with their sights set on representing the United States again at the 2030 Olympic Winter Games, while also helping inspire the next generation of American curlers.

Join us Wednesday morning at 7:30am at the Kitchi Gammi Club as we hear from Corey Danelski, Team Duluth Program Director of Team Duluth Alpine Club.

Team Duluth is local non-profit committed to developing on-snow skills and personal growth in young athletes. They help young athletes develop their abilities while striving to be a positive influence on personal development. Young athletes are enabled to choose their training and competitive intensity.

The Duluth/Superior Alpine Club was founded in 1965 by Wes Neustel, Don Salo, Paul Vesterstein, George Hovland, Melvin Cohen, P.A. Briglia, John Haavik, William Atmore and others. D/SAC is one of ten clubs in Minnesota devoted to alpine skiing as a life-long sport and participating in USSA and FIS programs. Several years ago, D/SAC transitioned into Team Duluth including both alpine and freestyle disciplines. Spirit Mountain became their home hill and primary training facility in 1979.

Join us Wednesday morning at 7:30am in the Great Hall - Kitchi Gammi Club as we hear from Jim Paine, Mayor of Superior, WI.
Paine was born and raised in Superior. At 18, he served in the United States Marine Corps and returned home to earn his degree in history and masters in advocacy and political leadership from UW-Superior.

Paine spent his early career working for DRCC, serving people with disabilities, and joined the Douglas County Board where he learned government administration and public leadership. in 2017, Paine was elected Mayor of Superior, WI. He promised the people of Superior he would lead the city with passion, energy, and vision. Paine believes in the potential of Superior through doing big things.

Join us Wednesday morning at 7:30am in the Great Hall - Kitchi Gammi Club as we hear from Kevin Gray, St. Louis County Administrator.

The St. Louis County Administration Department is based at the Courthouse in Duluth, with additional staff serving citizens from commissioner offices in Virginia, Hibbing and Ely.

The Administration Department is responsible for developing and implementing the broad policy directives of the Board of Commissioners. This team also manages intergovernmental relations, public relations, administrative support, aid to other agencies and labor relations.

Gray oversees a wide variety of departments including both external and internal county departments like Public Works, Planning & Zoning, Land & Minerals, Safety & Risk Management, Veterans Services, and Human Resources.

The Serpentarium's work is rooted in thoughtful engagement between people and animals. They create experiences that prioritize learning, respect, and care—bringing live animals into educational spaces in ways that are safe, intentional, and meaningful.

Sarah Glesner, whose experience spans more than two decades of working with live animals in educational and public settings, has shaped this approach. Early in her professional career, Glasner developed a strong connection with reptiles—an interest that helped guide her path through seven years at the Lake Superior Zoo, eight seasons with Hawk Ridge Bird Observatory, and two years in wildlife rehabilitation. That combination of animal care and public education experience continues to inform how the Serpentarium operates, emphasizing respect for animals, thoughtful learning, and environments where people of all ages feel informed and included.

Join us Wednesday morning at 7:30am in the Great Hall - Kitchi Gammi Club as we hear from Dewey Johnson - St. Louis County Emergency Support Services Administrator.

Dewey (Duane) Johnson is a 30-year employee of the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office and is currently the Emergency Support Services Administrator. He oversees 9-1-1 Communications, Emergency Management, and the radio maintenance divisions within the the Sheriff's Office. Dewey is also the Deputy Emergency Management Director. He is a retired volunteer firefighter / First Responder with the Grand Lake Fire Department and is an adjunct faculty instructor at Fond du lac Tribal and Community College.
