Did you know that child marriage is still allowed in 33 states in America?

Most of us don't get surprised when we hear of these horrific facts, and unfortunately our elected officials that can make change, haven't.

Here it the list of states (and districts) that have BANNED child marriage, no matter what*:

Massachusetts
Michigan

Don't see your home state on there? Contact your legislators and remind them that girls should have access to education and healthcare as a child, not forced marriage.

*According to Unchained At Last , their "research revealed that nearly 315,000 children as young as 10 were married in the U.S. between 2000 and 2021 – mostly girls wed to adult men" as parents can consent to their children marrying adults.

The impact of Head Start reaches far beyond the classroom. Head Start alumni are
🎓educators
👩‍💼business owners
👨‍⚕️health professionals
👩🏿‍🚒public servants
👶parents and
💅community leaders.

For generations, Head Start has helped children begin school ready to learn while giving families opportunities to build toward their own goals. It's one of the programs that fills the gaps in the current early childhood education crisis, and has done a really darn good job of meeting its goal event with minimal funding.

Congress is in the middle of figuring out their 2027 funding. Currently, the House passed its proposed HHS/Labor bill and it leaves Head Start funding at the same level as 2026 and slashes how the money can be used. Even the strongest proposal on the table falls short of what families, providers and states need to support families. Flat or barely-there increases don’t keep pace with rising costs and states can't build and strengthen their early childhood systems at this rate.

Join us and leave a public comment about early childhood education funding before the deadline of midnight tonight (10/6)! Share your story and tell Congress to keep child care funding a priority, fully fund CCDBG and Head Start/Early Head Start above the levels currently proposed by the House and reject the elimination of PDG B-5.

YWCA Duluth stands to eliminate racism, empower women and promote peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.

We envision a world without violence, one that centers the most vulnerable. During this month - National Domestic Violence Awareness Month - we want to acknowledge the struggle that so many go through as they navigate a world within a DV relationship and especially after they leave.

We also want to uplift the amazing organizations in our commUNITY that work to end DV including , , Domestic Abuse Intervention Programs (DAIP) and . Without you, survivors would have no place to turn. Your work is irreplaceable.
