We talked about paying for school, scholarships, and how to explore what’s out there for academic programs and careers.

Alworth Scholar Alumni testimonial:

“The Alworth Scholarship influenced both the early direction of my career and my financial life. I was always interested in both science and studio art, and in college I took nearly as many art classes as biology classes. Being an Alworth Scholar helped tip the scale toward majoring in biology.

That decision laid the groundwork for my interest in genetics and, ultimately, my entire career path. The scholarship also made a substantial difference in the cost of college. Between scholarships and financial aid, I was able to graduate with very little student loan debt, which gave me much more flexibility as I started graduate school and my career.”

Welcome to the team, Declan! 🎉

After a year of planning, we are excited to announce a new internship, and our first intern. Declan is a graduate of East High School and Lake Superior College. He is a 2026 recipient of the Transfer Pathway Alworth Scholarship. Currently studying Computer Science at the University of Wisconsin Superior, Declan will be assisting with the build and launch of new application software this semester. He will also be attending some scholarship events, and the Educator Appreciation Luncheon in October. By the end of the semester, Declan will have learned how nonprofit private foundations use technology. We are so lucky to have him with us at the beginning of his career in this field.

“I’m really excited to get started and see what I can learn from this experience. I’m grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the Alworth Memorial Fund and hopefully make a difference while I’m here.” -Declan
