This weeks speaker at our Lions meeting was Julie Gontje. She is the Parent Guide at MNH&V (Minnesota Hand & Voice), which is a Program of Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota. Julie helps parents find the resources they need for their child with deaf or hard of hearing needs. MNH&V will be holding an event, ā€œCatch A Ray Of Resourcesā€ for families with children who are deaf or hard of hearing. A photo of event is included in this post. Our President, Gerry Sjerven extended our thanks to our guest speaker with our Lions pen. One of our past Presidents, Maria Pank introduced our guest & her friend, Julie, to us.

Hello there!

I’d like to introduce myself. I am the new Lions District 5M10 emergency response trailer. ļæ¼ I was donated to the district by a very thoughtful gentleman from Iowa when he heard about our plans to develop a mobile response program to assist individuals in need.

The premise of my existence is simple: I am available for use by any Lion or club in our district to assist with any type of disaster response, humanitarian, or hunger project anytime, anywhere. From helping people displaced by forest fires in northern Canada to hurricanes in the southern US, I’ll go anywhere the Lions want to take me as long as there’s a road to get us there.

You may find me hauling food, ļæ¼clean water, flood cleanup equipment, bedding/household goods, or anything else that is needed to help those that need it. On my days off, you’ll probably see me around the district at parades and festivals.

Where there’s a need, there’s a Lion. And I’ll be there too.

PS: Please excuse this picture of me in my birthday suit. I will be getting a Lions themed wrap soon.

šŸ„žšŸ DON'T LET CONSTRUCTION GET IN THE WAY OF YOUR SHORTSTACK! šŸ„žšŸ

Railroad Street will be down to ONE LANE on Thursday, May 7, which means a little extra traffic during Duluth Lions Club Pancake Day.

(We know you have feels right now, but with a little patience, everyone will get carb loaded, we promise)

Also, if you work downtown, you can do your fellow syrup seekers a solid and walk via Skywalk's NORTHWEST PASSAGE.

GOOD NEWS: The weekend's graduation ceremonies should have clear lanes into the DECC.

(Thanks to our intern Jacob for this great graphic)
