🎆 Friendly Reminder: Keeping Your Horse Calm During 4th of July Fireworks 🐴

Fireworks can be stressful for horses, but a few simple steps can help keep them calm and safe:

🔁 Stick to Routine – Horses thrive on consistency. Avoid sudden changes like relocating or separating them from the herd unless necessary.

🏡 Plan Ahead – If you must move your horse (to a barn or quieter area), allow at least a week for them to acclimate to the new space.

🔍 Inspect the Area – Check paddocks and stalls for hazards like uneven ground, broken boards, or sharp edges to reduce the risk of injury if your horse gets startled.

🎵 Soothing Sounds – Inside the barn? Use fans or calming music to help mask firework noise.

🌾 Distraction Tools – Slow-feeders or busy hay can keep your horse’s mind occupied.

🎧 Ear Protection – Some horses tolerate earplugs, which can help muffle loud noises.

🚫 Avoid Comforting During Fireworks – Stay out of the stall or paddock during fireworks for you and your horse's safety.

📣 Start Desensitizing Early – While it may not help for this year, gradual noise exposure can make a big difference long-term.

👩‍⚕️ Consult Your Vet – Ask well ahead of time about sedatives if necessary, but be aware of competition rules—some medications are prohibited at shows.

Wishing you and your horses a safe and peaceful 4th! 🇺🇸✨
