💜 Domestic violence is not always physical.

The Power and Control Wheel, developed by the Domestic Abuse Intervention Programs (DAIP) in Duluth, helps illustrate the many tactics an abusive partner may use to gain and maintain control.

Those tactics can include intimidation, emotional abuse, isolation, economic abuse, threats, using children, minimizing or blaming, and other behaviors that restrict another person's freedom and independence.

Throughout Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we’ll take a closer look at several parts of the wheel and what they can look like in everyday relationships.

Recognizing abuse is an important part of supporting survivors and creating safer communities.

📞 Confidential advocacy is available 24/7 at the Louise Seliski Shelter: 218-828-1216
