To be an advocate for area youth in the performing arts and to create awareness of the power of the arts to enhance self esteem, to increase understanding of others, and to improve academic performance. Bluebird Foundation Continues Its Mission to Support Young Performers in the Northland
In and around Duluth, MN, one local nonprofit has quietly become a driving force behind the artistic dreams o
f many high school students. The Bluebird Foundation, Inc., founded in honor of the late Audrey Lundeen and inspired by her love of the “Bluebird of Happiness,” continues to expand its impact on young performers across the region. Created by longtime community advocate Tracy Lundeen, the foundation focuses on supporting area students in grades 9–12 who are passionate about the performing arts — including music, dance, theater, and even culinary arts. Today, the Bluebird Foundation has awarded nearly $70,000 in scholarships and grants to local youth. Lundeen Scholarship, presented annually to a graduating senior who plans to pursue advanced training or education in the arts. In addition to the flagship scholarship, the foundation distributes multiple $500 grants each year to help students access lessons, equipment, travel, and other opportunities that allow them to grow in their chosen disciplines. The organization’s reach goes beyond financial support. Bluebird’s events — including the popular Christmas by the Lake concert and awards presentation — provides students with opportunities to showcase their talents while connecting the region’s arts community. These gatherings have become important celebrations of youth creativity throughout the Twin Ports and surrounding area. By giving young performers the confidence, recognition, and resources they need, the Bluebird Foundation continues to play a vital role in nurturing the next generation of artists in and around Duluth. Its mission remains simple but powerful: to ensure that every young person with artistic passion has the chance to pursue it. www.bluebirdfoundation.org
