RUN YOUR STORY – "You have one of two options, quit or work harder."

Amy Olson had qualified twice before for the Boston Marathon but missed the time cutoff for an entry. This year at Grandma's Marathon, Amy ran 3:18:40 and was more than 11 minutes clear of her age group qualifying standard.

Pretty safe to say, this time she's GOING to Boston.

"This photo shows the years of hard work, the doubts, the injuries, and the perserverance – it was all worth it!"

Amy has run Grandma's Marathon the past two years. She calls it well-organized and not initmidating for a large-scale event, and she says the people and energy are next level all weekend long!

Thank you, Amy, for believing in Grandma's Marathon as your pathway to Boston. We're so happy for you!

RUN YOUR STORY – "I run because it brings me joy."

Chenor Bah has been running for 10 years, and he was hooked early on by the adrenaline and camaraderie he felt in competition.

He started with 5Ks but has moved onto marathons – this year was his first in Duluth, but Grandma's Marathon marked the 20th lifetime marathon for Bah.

His biggest and best memory from his race day experience? The "unforgettable, mesmerizing, and emotional first sight of Lake Superior.

RUN YOUR STORY – An ageless wonder. The "glue" of Grandma's Marathon.

There are plenty of ways to describe Dorothy Spencer. Simply put, she's one of the original unsung heroes of Grandma's Marathon.

For 40 years, Spencer did whatever was needed to better the race. Answered phones. Kept race results. Ran timing clocks. Handed out awards. She was one of Executive Director Scott Keenan's inner circle, one of his go-to people in the event's early, formidable years.

Spencer returned to Duluth this year at age 93 to run the William A. Irvin 5K, with a goal of crossing the line in under an hour. Staying true to form, she did even better than expected – she finished in 52:57.

Thank you, Dorothy, for being such an integral piece of the Grandma's Marathon story.
