We are excited to announce a new sustainability workshop series starting next month!

Hartley will be hosting 5 monthly workshops from March to July focused on connecting community members with local experts to learn about environmental challenges, solutions, and ways you can make a difference in our community!

Last week during a bike ride through the pines our AmeriCorps members spotted a snowshoe hare between the trees!

The snowshoe hare is cleverly named after its large feet which are well-furred during winter, allowing the hare to run through snow without sinking.

These special animals are also adapted with seasonal camouflage. In summer snowshoe hares have dark brown fur, matching the shadows of deep northern forests where they live. In winter the hares grow an entirely new coat of snow white fur!

Next time you visit the park be sure to keep an eye out for these fluffy critters!

Community Partner Highlight!!!

Hartley Nature Center is dedicated to inspiring lifelong connections to nature through education, play and exploration. The Nature Center is open to the public Monday - Saturday 9am-4pm.

We’re incredibly grateful for their ongoing support of our programs at Mentor North.
Reminder: Mentor North matches receive free rentals of bikes, snow shoes, kick sleds, and spiked boots at no cost year round. Just bring your match card and let staff know you’re part of the Mentor North program.

A big thank you to everyone that came out and supported Hartley Nature Center at our annual Candlelight fundraiser and trails event last Saturday, the 24th! We know the cold was a challenge this year, but you showed up, you explored the trails, and you made this event one to remember! We are so grateful for the support of our Hartley community! Gathering with you in this way always warms our hearts.
