This weekend also includes MLK Day! You won’t see Dr. King’s quotes shared on Duluth Mom socials since his words and images are copyrighted by his estate, but I encourage you to take a moment to Google “MLK popular quotes” and read a few. They are inspiring, full of hope, and *unfortunately* still deeply relevant today.

Whether you’re laying low, getting outside in the fresh snow, or finding ways to connect in community, I hope you keep warm and safe!

Weekend Planner - January 10th & 11th

Happy New Year! ❄️ We know winters in Minnesota can be long and a little isolating, but being in community makes all the difference! Whether it’s just getting out of the house and into nature, gathering with friends to share a meal, or simply being in a common space with others, connection matters more than ever these days.

Here, I’ve gathered a few resources for you - I hope they give you a reason to get out and start the year feeling a little more connected in the community.

Well, even though we do not have any snow, the holiday season officially kicked off in Duluth tonight with the parade!

Bentleyville will be opening for the season tomorrow - will you be there to watch Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive via helicopter??

This was the most unifying thing I have seen in ages- even with each person’s show being different depending on where they lived and what the weather was like. I saw friends post pictures from Fargo, ND to Indiana and everywhere in between.

People have been sharing. Sharing pictures on socials, sharing pictures in texts to family, friends and neighbors. Sharing the experience with loved ones in-person. Sharing where and what time to see the show.

Everybody was excited and full of joy.
Everybody was in awe.

Many people sacrificed sleep and warmth to experience the northern lights.
