On this International Women's Day, Mercy Hands America proudly joined our partners: UN Women, Mercy Hands, Mercy Hands Europe, Iraqi Telemedicine Center, Mercy Path for Women Affairs, 7th Sense for Media and Art Production, Eduba Center for Human and organizational development, with funding by The Government of Japan, we celebrated the outstanding achievements of women, and in bringing greater attention to the ongoing struggle for women's rights and empowerment in Iraq.
Answering the call of the International Women's Day 2024 Collaborative Partnerships to , we are imagining a gender equal world that is free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination; a world that's diverse, equitable, and inclusive, and we will continue to fulfil our mission to empower women around the world.

Gaza is currently facing a severe water crisis, amplifying the urgent need for humanitarian assistance.

Mercy Hands Alliance, consisting of Mercy Hands Europe, Mercy Hands America, and Mercy Hands for Humanitarian Aid, keeps working on establishing new collaborations with key stakeholders in the context of ensuring a new bottled water delivery 💧.

Exciting updates on our mission: The Mercy Hands alliance will be soon sending a new big cargo! The final destination? The Palestine Red Crescent society الهلال الاحمر الفلسطيني in Gaza. They will ensure that all the water will reach the capable hands of our local partner Unlimited Friends Association for Social Development, which will distribute the aid at UNRWA schools.

Challenges may arise, including the unpredictable wait times, but our dedicated team is ready to navigate every twist and turn.

Mercy Hands Alliance's HEART Operation for Gaza 🌍

On November 3rd, our dedicated team at Mercy Hands Alliance, an alliance comprised of Mercy Hands Europe, Mercy Hands America, and Mercy Hands for Humanitarian Aid, completed a vital delivery to support the people of Gaza, who are facing unprecedented challenges. We provided:

📦 200 boxes of clean water
👶 22 packages of baby diapers
🆘 69 packages of sanitary pads

These essential supplies will make a significant impact on the lives of those in need. The delivery was made possible through the generosity and compassion of ordinary people who stand with us in solidarity for humanity.

Special thanks to the incredible initiative "Together for Tomorrow", an Egyptian youth-led grassroots movement, who ensured that these supplies reached those who needed them most in Gaza on Sunday, November 5th.

URGENT: Gaza Water Crisis 🚨

Our team is currently at the Palestinian border in Egypt, working to address the pressing needs in Gaza: 💧water and 🆘 hygiene kits. Two of our colleagues are coordinating with local and national authorities, ministries, international organizations, and the UN in Gaza. Very few organizations have access to Gaza, and the help reaching the people there is far too limited⚠️.

The ongoing bombings in Gaza have taken a devastating toll, leading to a severe water crisis that endangers the lives of 2.3 million Gazan civilians. This crisis has also caused outbreaks of diseases like dysentery and cholera. Chickenpox and scabies cases have been identified, likely due to inadequate sanitation and the use of unsafe water sources (Relief Web, 28.10.23). UNICEF Spokesperson James Elder has reported that Gaza's water production capacity has dropped to just 5% of its usual daily output. The risk of child deaths, especially among infants, due to dehydration, is increasing. UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini stated: "If we look at the issue of water — we all know WATER IS LIFE — Gaza is running out of water, and Gaza is running out of life". Water is now the only lifeline for Gazans.

The situation is dire, but we can make a difference!

Join us in helping people suffering in GAZA!

Mercy Hands has launched the HEART for Gaza operation. In a collective effort with our sister organizations Mercy Hands Europe and Hands America , we have sent our HEART (Humanitarian Emergency Assistance and Relief Team) directly to the border between Gaza and Egypt. Their mission is to provide aid to the hundreds of thousands of people trapped under the shelling without water, food, electricity, medicines or medical attention.

Sponsored by Mercy Hands America and Mercy Hands Europe, our sister organization, Mercy Hands for Humanitarian Aid conducted a workshop in partnership with the Iraqi Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs (MoLSA) on "Social Security for NGO Workers". The workshop was held at MoLSA Headquarters in Baghdad on Sunday, November 13. Representatives of 23 NGOs (national and international) attended the workshop. The Iraqi social security law and regulations were discussed, with a focus on NGO workers.
