The Stowe Elementary PTA annual school carnival is just around the corner, Friday, March 27, from 5:00–7:00 PM, and we still desperately need volunteers

We do have a general volunteer sign-up available. But if you are interested in a specific activity, please just note it in the comment section and we will do our best to accommodate that preference.

Good Afternoon Stowe PTA Member and Volunteers,

Stowe PTA 80 + Annual Carnival is just around the corner and we would really like your input in planning. The carnival is the PTA"s biggest fundraiser and it supports things like monetary support and snacks for field trips , classroom snacks, 5th grade graduation cakes, purchasing yearbooks, family fun nights and more.

Stowe PTA meets next Thursday, November 13th and we plan to confirm the carnival date and details at the meeting.

If you could please take a moment and fill out the below form before Thursday, November 13th- we would really appreciate it. We want your input before the meeting on what day you think is best for the carnival and what type of food ( if any) you want to see served. Even if you do not plan on attending or volunteering at the meeting or carnival, we still want your input.

Stowe Elementary PTA is heading out to The Haunted Shack in Carton to Scare the pants off people.......many of the volunteers who were previously signed up are unable to make it so we would love for you to come join us!!!!

If you are joining us for volunteering at haunted shack please wear all black or a scary costume if you have one..arrive around 530/6 notify the parking staff you are there to volunteer with Stowe PTA and they will direct you to south side of the building. Parents and students are welcome to stay and volunteer as well.

The mission of Stowe Elementary PTA is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children. This is made possible through collaboration between families, parents, teachers, staff, and community members.

The 2024-2025 school year was a tremendous year of growth and success for the PTA, and we plan to continue supporting the students and school in the upcoming school year. We raised over $10,000 throughout the school year through our fundraisers and the support of our volunteers. The funds from the fundraisers help purchase snacks for classroom teachers, additional yearbooks, peacemaker treats for assemblies, teacher conference dinners twice a year, purchase snacks, and provide monetary support for the 5th-grade field trip to Wolf Ridge. The PTA also hosts the annual fruit, flower, and vegetable show, annual Trunk or Treat, annual Golden Spoon Baking Contest, movie nights, and book fairs, where each student receives $10 to use at the book fair once a year, and the beloved Stowe school carnival, which is a tradition for over 80 years. Stowe PTA was also responsible for the petting zoo at the year-end picnic last school year!

These events are only possible with the support of members and volunteers. We encourage everybody to become a member and attend formal meetings if they are able ( but it is not required). Meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month in person or via Zoom. We provide dinner and childcare if necessary. There is a suggested donation of $7 to become a member, which supports the Stowe PTA, MN PTA, and the National PTA, and provides PTA voting rights. We need volunteers throughout the whole school year, and volunteering is free.

There is alot going on in October- teacher conference dinners, book fair, and Trunk or Treat.

We are providing dinner for staff during teacher conferences in October. We do ask for donations, and then the PTA fills in the gap for any missing items. Please send items with your student to school the week of conferences and clearly label that they are to be used for confernence dinners. If you send any container please label so we can get back to you as well.

The Bookfair is also happening during conferences. It will be open during the day on Wednesday and Friday, and in the evening of the conferences on Tuesday and Thursday. We have had success with hosting the book fair during conferences and opted to continue to do so this year.As an incentive, we do offer $20 in scholastic dollars to spend at the book fair for individuals who volunteer.

And last but certainly not least ( my favorite event), Trunk or Treat and the Happily Haunted Hike will be taking place on Tuesday, October 28th, from 5-7 pm. This is a collaboration between Keyzone and the PTA. Keyzone will host a happily haunted hike through the woods from 5-6 pm, and students can end with trunk or treating in the school bus parking lot from 5-7 pm. The loose caboose food truck will be on site this year, and 10% of the proceeds are going directly to the school forest! This event has been a huge success in the past, and the community loves that we do this. We are seeking volunteers to host a vehicle. We ask volunteers to be ready to go by 5 pm and expect between 300-400 trick-or-treaters. If you are unable to participate the entire time, that is fine, please come for as long as you are able.

We are looking for volunteers to run the bookfair. Please share the link for signup. Anyone who volunteers will receive $20 scholastic dollars per shift to use at the bookfair. If we do not have the volunteers we will not be able to bpen, so please share the link!

ELECTIONS

There are 4 officers positions (president, vice president, secretary, treasurer). In order to ensure there's always someone to assist new officers we have to hold elections for two of the four positions each year.

This year we need to hold an election for the vice president and treasurer position.

We are accepting nominations for these two positions. If you are interested or want to nominate someone please attend the meeting on Monday, May 12th or send an email with your nomination to [email protected]

Nominees must be present at meeting to accept the nomination. If there is more than one each person can just give us a few details as to why they think they would a good fit and we will vote.
