📣Early giving is now underway for Give to the Max Day, which officially takes place on November 19th!

Aftenro’s dining room is the heart of our home — it’s where our residents share meals, conversation, and community every single day. After years of love and use, our tables and chairs are worn out and no longer meet the comfort and accessibility needs of the people we serve.

We’re launching a fundraiser to raise $40,000 to purchase new, modern, supportive chairs and durable dining tables that will make mealtimes safer, more comfortable, and more welcoming for every resident.

Every gift, big or small, helps transform one of the most‑used spaces in our building. Thank you for supporting Aftenro and helping us continue our mission of providing a true home for our residents.

We wrapped up "State Fair Week" with a visit from some animal friends, including a camel, baby kangaroo, and baby alligator, along with an alpaca, mini cow, and donkey! Needless to say, these unexpected guests were a huge hit!

Of course, no State Fair experience would be complete without a little something sweet! Our residents enjoyed authentic mini donuts during Bingo, making a favorite activity even more delicious.

It was a fantastic week of bringing the sights, sounds, tastes, and even the animals of the State Fair right here to Aftenro!

Can't make it to the State Fair this year? No problem—we’re bringing the fair to Aftenro! 🎡🎠

So far this week, we've enjoyed some classic carnival games, sampled delicious "Sweet Maggie's Cookies," and even crowned our very own Princess Kay of the Milky Way! 👑🥛

And the fun isn't over yet! The next two days will be filled with more State Fair excitement, including some tasty fair foods—maybe even something on a stick! 🌭🍪 We’ve also heard that some special animal visitors may be stopping by! 🐐🐑

A big thank you to the Duluth Skyline Rotary for their generosity and hard work in helping make our campus even more beautiful and welcoming! We truly appreciate the time and effort they put into making a difference.

And a special shout-out to a couple of our Garden Club members for giving such a great interview! 🌿🌸 Thank you for helping showcase the wonderful spirit of our community!

Volunteers from Skyline Rotary spent their lunch hour Friday improving the landscaping at Aftenro Home in Duluth.

We took a little trip across the bridge to Superior to have lunch at Mama T's Smokin' Eats🍽.

Let's just say... Mamma T's does NOT believe in small portions!🤣 Our Activity Director ordered loaded nachos and was expecting a nice little plate... instead, he got what looked like a whole party platter! 🧀🌮🤣We're pretty sure the nachos could've fed the entire table.

The portions were HUGE, the food was delicious, and we had a great time enjoying good food, laughs, and even better company!😊

Congratulations to our July Employee of the Month, Peggy! Peggy founded our wellness program and served as its director for more than 20 years, creating a program that continues to benefit our residents to this day. Today, she continues to make a difference in her "retirement job" as our massage therapist, serving our residents with pain relief, general wellness, and stress reduction. Thank you, Peggy, for your years of dedication and for the compassion you show our residents every day. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition!

The weather warmed up just in time to enjoy a pontoon ride along the mouth of Lake Superior. The trip was provided by The St. Louis River Experience, a local nonprofit service organization dedicated to helping seniors experience and enjoy our beautiful St. Louis River. Thank You for a memorable day!

Our Garden Club has been busy potting and planting. Thanks for making our grounds beautiful and bright! We can't wait to see the flowers and eat the fresh veggies!
