Details for the Appalachian Harvest Food Boxes that will be distributed in Duffield on Friday (May 29th) - Please remember to stay in your vehicles - we will load the box for you! ๐Ÿ˜Š

We have a limit of only two boxes per car, even if multiple households are in a vehicle. This ensures we can give out xes to different families as possible.

Pickup time: 10-12 (We usually run out sooner)

Place: Appalachian Harvest Food Hub, 280 Boone Trail Road, Duffield, VA.

Details: The boxes are free to anyone who needs food. You donโ€™t have to pre-register or sign up; just pull into the car line, stay in your car, and we will load your box for you.

Contents: Fresh, nutritious, delicious veggies, fruit, and milk- all sourced from area farmers and producers โค๐Ÿถ๐Ÿšœ

June 1st Farm Tour: Cute Goats! Free lunch! Native Plant Sales! Inspiring Farmers! Don't miss this FREE fun day in the field...

Come see how farmers Kathryn and Neil Hughes are managing their land with an award-winning dairy goat herd, and running a native plant nursery as well!
Tour topics will cover native plant production, NRCS cost-share projects, management of conservation areas, and lessons learned in the management of pastured poultry and small ruminants.

This event will include a walking tour of their high tunnel, native plant nursery (both woody and herbaceous species), their conserved riparian buffer and wetland, an American Chestnut planting, an overview of their grazing paddocks, and an optional hands-on activity after lunch.

This tour is supported in partnership with the Friends of the Rappahannock.

Kathryn and Neil Hughes own and operate a 10-acre forest farm in Madison County, VA (between Charlottesville and Culpeper), where they have been reforesting traditional farmland in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains since 2019.

This event will include a walking tour of their high tunnel, native plant nursery (both woody and herbaceous species), their conserved riparian buffer and wetland, an American Chestnut planting, an overview of their grazing paddocks, and an optional hands-on activity after lunch.
