Finding Peace in Loss: Grief doesn't have a timeline, and you don't have to navigate it alone. Our Healing Hearts grief group meets tonight at 6:00 PM. This is a safe, compassionate space to process loss alongside others who understand the weight of the journey.

At our last meeting, my small group discussed a couple of opportunities available for widows and their children.

Lisa shared that her kids have participated in Camp Kesem, a free overnight camp for children whose parent is currently battling cancer or has passed away from cancer. There are nearby chapters through the University of Iowa and UW–Madison. You can learn more here: https://www.kesem.org/programs-services/camp-kesem

I also shared my experience attending Camp Widow in Chicago last fall. Camp Widow is a one-day conference for men and women who have lost a spouse. The event includes speakers, workshops, and opportunities to connect with others who understand the journey of widowhood. Camp Widow Kids takes place at the same time, offering supportive programming for children. This year's camp will be on June 13. More information can be found here: https://campwidow.org/camp/camp-widow-chicago/

If you’re aware of any additional grief support resources or opportunities for widows and families, please feel free to share them with us. We would be glad to pass them along to the group.

If you have the desire to attend a Camp Widow® event, but your financial circumstances make the cost of attending impossible, please ask for help.

These four ladies were the original FINE ladies. Their vision of a healing space for young widows, at a very young age themselves, have led them all to the next space in their life.

Last night the four of them gathered to reminisce on where they began, reflect on the times they supported each other through the past 18 years of life and celebrate where they are now✨

The work is hard👷‍♂️

There is no easy way to process grief🚫

But the work must be done✅

If you know someone you care about that would benefit from our young widows group. Send them our way.

We always have a seat for them💙

Today a couple of our “OG” widows met to work on future steps for our group.

Meet Molly and Sabrina. They are two of the core four who started FINE in 2009.

They are both dedicated to helping those whose shoes they once filled.

We are so grateful to Mercy One, Mindful Minutes and Medical Associates for providing this healing space for young widows🙏

Tonight we had our first night of group. This is not a group anyone ever wants to belong to nor do we try to recruit; but grateful to have each other in the journey🩵

If you know of a young widow/widower who can benefit from this healing, please share and send them our way. We will welcome them with open arms and common stories✨

Thinking of you all and wishing you a merry Christmas 🎄

On Christmas Eve

🎄 We know it’s still heavy.

We want you to know that we see you. We’re here. We’re holding the line for you in grief.

You’re not alone.
You’re not wrong.
Take breaks.
Give grace to yourself.
Rest.
