BBQ in DBQ is working to be a self-sustaining entity. With 2012 being the first annual, we now have moved into 2013 for the 2nd Annual BBQ in DBQ.

Celebrate and promote community bonding in Dubuque: Calling all citizens regardless of race, ethnicity or gender to come out and have a great time with other members of the community. In late 2011 the City of Dubuque’s Human Rights Commission sat down to have their annual goal setting meeting. From that meeting, Goal #3 was created: Increasing opportunities for community dialogue and bonding, with

an emphasis on bullying and violence. From this goal spawned the idea of a community BBQ which has been named, (Full Name) This Is How We BBQ in DBQ. We look to create new partnerships wherever we can, because the more we come together as a community, the better we will function. Our goal is to make everyone feel like they belong to the Dubuque community by creating atmospheres in which differences aren’t barriers, but rather building blocks which turn weaknesses into strengths.
