We’d like to give a huge THANK YOU to the students from Emmaus University for the incredible job they did helping us organize and clean our storage rooms! They truly went above and beyond with their hard work and attention to detail.

They also took time to help Cindy in the Open Closet get everything ready for our shoppers. We are so grateful for their time, energy, and willingness to help.

A heartfelt thank-you to Emmaus University for inviting us to the Servant Leadership Training Expo on August 24th!

It was wonderful to reconnect with familiar faces from past volunteer students and to meet so many new students as well. Their enthusiasm for the mission of Almost Home was truly encouraging, and we’re excited to welcome them as volunteers and have them join us in making a difference in our community.

We’re grateful for this opportunity to connect with such passionate and service-minded students. We look forward to working together! 💙

Thank you, Nikki Simon, Colton, and Bryce Davidshofer, along with the Dubuque County Dairy Association, for the delicious root beer floats served at the Open Closet! They were absolutely delicious and such a refreshing treat!

On Thursday, Aug. 20, 3-5 p.m., the Open Closet will feature the 'end of summer' apparel then switching to fall/winter apparel. At this Open Closet, we feature root beer floats with the Dubuque County Dairy Association providing ice cream. We are so appreciative of the Dairy Association support!

The Open Closet will have a shoe giveaway on Saturday, August 1, 9 to 11 AM. Kids first. We have 250 pairs of shoes for students' size 7 to 8 1/2 women and size 8-12 men’s shoes. Bring your young adults. One per person. We’re so grateful for St. Peter youth service group and their help organizing this!

Bring your students for the free shoe giveaway on Saturday, Aug. 1, 9-9:30 a.m. One pair per child. We will provide a personal shopping assistant. The area will only have 5 shoppers at a time. We do not have all sizes but do have great quality shoes donated by a local distribution center. Especially bring your older boys since there is a good inventory of 9-11.5 men's.

Open Closet is Saturday, Aug. 1, 9-11 a.m. featuring the 'Shoe' Giveaway for youth from 9-9:30 a.m. and open to adults after that. We only will allow 5 people in the area at a time with a 1 shoe/person minimum. Please bring your kids with you (especially for boys looking for the larger shoe size!) Then head over to the Crescent Community Health Center Back to School bash at Audubon starting at 11 a.m.

School will be here before we know it! 🍎✏️

Crescent Community Health Center is excited to once again be part of the 2026 Back-to-School Bash on Saturday, August 1, from 11 a.m.–2 p.m. at Audubon Elementary School.

Stop by our resource booth to learn about the services we offer, and if your child still needs a back-to-school physical or vaccinations, our team will be there to help make it easy to get ready for the school year.
