PechaKucha Night Dubuque

PechaKucha Night Dubuque PechaKucha Nights Dubuque are social events that connect people through a unique array of creative and unexpected personal stories. Events are always free.

PechaKucha (meaning chit-chat) Night is an international project that started in Japan in 2003. It started as a way for young designers to meet, network, and show their work in public. It has turned into a massive celebration, with events happening in hundreds of cities around the world. Presenters must share their stories using 20 slides and a limit of 20 seconds per slide. In Dubuque, we strive

to curate presenters who can share an eclectic variety of stories. No event is the same. PK Nights started in Dubuque in August of 2015.

Today you can come see Mary present!

Mary Emily Duba loves to argue with authors and befriend fellow readers across time and space in the margins of books. She teaches theology at the University of Dubuque, where she introduces her students to texts people have been arguing with and doodling on for generations. With her husband and daughters, she enjoys hiking in the Driftless Area and working in the garden.

Brigitte “B” Stephens is a marketing mind with a soft spot for real-life moments and the people inside them. A storyteller and professional noticer at heart, she’s drawn to what feels real, unscripted, and human, and what happens when we actually slow down enough to see it. Equal parts observer and instigator, she’s always looking for what’s real in a world that moves a little too fast, curious about what brings people together and what gets lost along the way. If there’s a story to be told or a connection to be made, she’s probably already chasing it.
