Meet the 2026 Golf for a Cause recipient, Carter Cocayne! Carter has been through some tough stuff and needs a walk in shower for safety.
If you don’t know about the Emlynn Faith Community Foundation or our Golf for a Cause event, let me share a little.
Our daughter was born with multiple brain anomalies, leaving her physically and intellectually impaired. A few years ago we realized we needed better transportation for her & her wheelchair so we decided to host a golf outing. We had such a great time, and we know there’s a need for support families like ours, so we decided to make it an annual event. Since our first one, we’ve been able to help two more families get necessary care, renovations or support.
I spent 10 years volunteering with the Dubuque Chapter of Make A Wish and I’ve truly missed supporting our community. Pivoting to help our community members with disabilities is the perfect opportunity for us to give back.
Join us this September 12th at Lacoma to support Carter and see what we’re all about!
We welcome golfers, silent auction donations and volunteers!
The Emlynn Faith Community Foundation has a 2026 recipient!
Meet Carter Cocayne, a goofy and fun loving kid who just happens to have an extra chromosome.
“We were told that Carter would never walk, talk, roll over, or sit up.....they couldn’t have been more wrong. Carter goes to school, walks, uses a tablet for communication and he has the best sense of humor out of anyone I know. He's a sweet and loving kiddo and is always up for some play time at the adaptive park.” -Angie Cocayne
Carter is currently a 7th grader here in Dubuque and is quite tall so his family will be using these funds for a walk in shower. Because of Carter’s mobility issues he can’t safely step over the tub and his age and size is becoming more challenging for his parents Angie and Jim.
