This week's severe weather was no match for the generosity of Iowa women. Despite tornado watches and heavy downpours, our Women's Giving Circle members came together to award $25,000 in grants to seven nonprofits in our region.
This year's grant recipients are:
Crescent Community Health Center, which will use its grant for its new lactation consultation services.
Monticello Ministerial Association, which will use its grant to help Jones County residents access brain health services.
My GEAR Outreach, which will use its grant for its Duffels Full of Dignity program.
Project Rooted Rooted, which will use its grant to increase access to healthy food through its Rooted Bucks program.
Vision To Learn Iowa, which will support its work to bring vision screenings, eye exams and glasses to children at no cost to schools or families.
Waypoint Services for Women and Families, which will use its grant to support its fleeing assistance program.
YWCA Clinton Empowerment Center, which will use its grant for its Her Home Fund.
Plus, the Women’s Giving Circle announced that The Red Basket Project of Dubuque will be the beneficiary of a service project this fall.
The Women's Giving Circle is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, and the festivities are built around a quote attributed to Eleanor Roosevelt: "A woman is like a tea bag. You never know how strong she is until she is in hot water." Learn more and get involved at dbqfoundation.org/wgc.
Special thanks to K&A Creations and Silly Goose Grazing for providing such delicious food (and beautiful displays)!
