Over the past few years, many students and doctors have started feeling discouraged because of all the discussions about how difficult the U.S. visa process has become, how uncertain the pathway is, and how challenging it is to enter the U.S.
But remember one thing: the road was never guaranteed or easy.
For more than 15 years, the journey to the U.S. has always had obstacles ,changing policies, financial challenges, visa uncertainty, and unexpected delays. Yet thousands of doctors made it.
We have seen doctors who were rejected multiple times and kept trying until they finally received their visas. Some were rejected 10 times and succeeded on their 16th or 17th attempt. Others struggled financially, faced years of preparation, and still found a way to complete the journey.
The reality is that immigration policies change constantly. The U.S. healthcare system has also continued to face physician shortages in many specialties and regions, creating ongoing demand for qualified international medical graduates. Over the past decade, different policies and pathways have opened and closed, but motivated doctors continued finding opportunities.
For example:
In 2013, the U.S. continued expanding discussions around physician workforce shortages, especially in underserved areas.
In 2020–2022, the COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the critical need for healthcare workers and accelerated reliance on international medical talent.
In 2023–2025, many states increased efforts to address physician shortages through new licensing pathways and IMG-focused initiatives.
The lesson is simple:
Don’t let today’s uncertainty convince you that your dream is impossible.
Decisions change. Opportunities appear. Doors open.
The people who succeed are not always the ones who had the easiest journey , they are the ones who refused to give up.
Keep preparing. Keep improving. Keep moving forward.
Because yes… it is still possible.
