Did you know that the OWL'S Equine Therapy program has 2 mini horses AND 2 donkeys? And this study is 100% correct- they can be so calming for our at-risk teens. 💜

"Her mom said she came to camp for the horses. She has talked about them all week."

Summer recap...we love our partnership with MedCamps of Louisiana, Inc! Seeing campers smile and laugh as they ride or paint the horses is a summer highlight 💜

Our weekly visits are funded through donations (thank you!!) and a generous grant from United Way of Northeast Louisiana!

Happy Trails....
Almost 10 years ago, a friend reached out about two Fjords. Their owner was moving and wasn't able to bring them with her- would the OWL be interested in a loan? Sophie and Gabe joined us a few weeks later, and quickly became part of the family. Over the past ten years, they have provided so much joy to our riders (and staff)- Sophie with her calm, motherly demeanor, and Gabe with his class clown antics. They have visited the MCH campus, nursing homes, schools and Med Camps, as well as providing countless hours of equine therapy at the OWL. They have always been so incredibly steady, and have literally changed hundreds of lives💜

We always knew that they would return to their owner one day, and that time has come. HUGE Thank You to Shelly Rose for loaning us these 2 incredible horses- they have been such a blessing 💜 We know they will have a great life - but are sure going to miss them.

Join us this Thursday anytime between 3:30-5:30 to wish Gabe and Sophie well on their trip (they said they will happily accept carrots and treats 😅). If you have a favorite memory, please drop it in the comments below.
