What happens when an
organization ceases to be?

The fraternal experience has been part of the United States since the founding of the nation. Freemasons, Odd Fellows, Knights of Pythias, and hundreds of other groups were established to support the burgeoning Country. These organizations were not an abstract idea. They were made up of people, just like you, who dedicated their lives to improving themselves and their community. Yet, the vast majority of these organizations have closed, moved or sold their buildings and their records and artifacts are being lost. Unfortunately, for many of these organizations, preservation of their legacy has been inconsistent. Many chapters have their valuable materials stored in the basements and attics of members or their families. When the chapters close, their records and artifacts are then neglected or lost. However, for many of these organizations, preservation of their legacy has been inconsistent, and much of their valuable history remains in the basements and attics of members or their families. That’s where Indiana University’s Center for Fraternal Collections and Research comes in. The Center for Fraternal Collections & Research at Indiana University celebrates the role that these organizations played in members' lives and in communities across the country by collecting, researching, and preserving fraternal records and artifacts and making them accessible to scholars and the public. In order to save this history, the Center needs help covering the costs of preservation, curation, and storage.
The Grand Holy Royal Arch Chapter is collecting donations, of any size, towards supporting this cause. Chapters may donate directly to the effort, as well as Companions and their families.
Simply mail a check, payable to the Grand Holy Royal Arch Chapter of Pennsylvania, to the address below and we’ll handle everything else!
