Last evening we shared the most triumphant comeback story of our sweet Tansy. ♥️ As Blackie, she wasn’t worth much to the world; to many, hers wasn’t even a life worthy of existence. 💔 Such is the case with the forgotten. You know, as we look back over years of our Facebook posts, the word, “forgotten” shows up over and over…. and rightly so. The essence of rescue is to save the forgotten. Sadly, there are just so many. 😔

The pleas for help don’t ever quit… nor do they slow. And the lives behind those requests for rescue are so very real… they are the “Blackies” of our community, the “Liliths” of our neighborhoods and the sweet Mommas struggling to care for nine precious babies… they are all “Homer”, “Salem”, “Bob” and countless others. When we get calls to help, we don’t see, “just another cat in need”, we see every cat we’ve ever loved. 🥹 Every call is another “Poppy” in need, every message, a chance to help another, “Lloyd” and every kitten the next, “Gracie” or “Greyson.” ♥️

Rescue is about seeing value in every life. And we want to be able to say, “yes”. This post is a humble request, a prayer even. We are in DESPERATE NEED OF FOSTERS. 🥺 There is no other way for us to save more of the forgotten without you. If you are a cat lover and have a room in your home and love in your heart, please consider joining us. Happy endings like Tansy’s (and all the cats we have adopted to loving homes or helped to live better lives) only happen because someone said, “I can make this happen.” Someone saw their value when the world looked away. Please consider being that, “someone”….♥️ We need you..now more than ever. 🥹

“My six word love story:
You changed my life… thank you.” ♥️

Last winter, we shared her heartbreaking story. Feral cat….literally frozen to a porch and dying. It was -20 degrees outside when we got the message. 💔 She arrived at our holding facility with green mucus pouring from her eyes and mouth. After several courses of antibiotics, six dental extractions, and a weight gain of 4 lbs., she was healthy enough to be spayed. Checking the forecast with regularly, we waited on a warm stretch of spring weather so she could, at long last, rejoin her colony. Watching a feral cat languish in a kennel is tortuous for both the cat and her caregivers. 😭 But our goal from the beginning, as it is for every feral cat, was not just to spay and release her, but to send her home… completely healthy and better off than when we met her.

And then we got the news. There was no colony to return to. 💔💔 While the harsh winter had taken its toll, some cruel humans had taken action resulting in the, elimination of the, “cat problem” in her area. 🥺 And that, friends, was where we left off with her story..

But… it was not the end of her story. 🥹

You see, for the first time in her life, fate smiled on our Blackie girl, when one amazing person came forward after seeing our post. Because she has a heart bursting with love for the forgotten, she began to formulate a plan. And this plan included all of the proven methods to successfully introduce a feral cat to a new home.

For months, Blackie remained in her kennel inside a newly built heated and air conditioned outbuilding… Everyday, she watched out the windows of the building, pretending to ignore the lady. And the lady went about the business of caring for Blackie, offering snacks, clean linens and gentle words…. But never forcing the relationship.

After six weeks of working to slowly gain Blackie’s trust, the door to the kennel was left open. The exploration of the outbuilding wasn’t immediate… but slow… and steady. To mark what would hopefully be the beginning of a new era, she even received a new name… Tansy. ♥️

Several weeks ago we received a beautiful video of the current progress along with a note. Our girl was in the process of incredible transformation as she cautiously… but casually, made her way across the room. What made this moment even sweeter was that she wasn’t just roaming around but was deliberately making her way across the room, tail held high, to the sweet sound of her friend gently calling her name…Tansy. ♥️

We truly cannot thank you enough. Every meal, every share, every “I’ll go eat at Hoss’s tonight,” and every person who encouraged someone else to participate made a difference. ❤️

🩶THE G UNIT 🩶

Mama Georgia, Ginny & Gil: the cutest little crew to ever run the streets (since rescued, they’ve been running the crib) 😎🐾

They are chill, playful, affectionate, and completely unbothered by the chaos of life. Mama Georgia is the OG queen of the operation, while her bonded babies, Ginny & Gil, are her tiny sidekicks. They’re all great with other cats and kids, and basically just looking for someone to give them their record deal! 💿

They’d happily curl up on your lap during Sunday football, supervise your snacks, or be waiting at the door to give your kiddo some after-school love when they get off the bus. 🚌

They’ve got the G names, the gangster swagger, and the absolute cutest faces…but don’t let the names fool you. These guys are total softies. 🩷

Adopting them means no drama. No turf wars. Just purrs, cuddles, and tiny paws following you around the house.

🍀 These 2 are still waiting, and we honestly don’t know why. 🍀

Rory (a handsome tuxie boy) and Caitlyn (a sweet tabby girl) were born on St. Patrick’s Day. Their 3 siblings were quickly adopted, but these 2 are still waiting. 🥺

💙Rory is vocal, loves to cuddle, and enjoys watching tv perched on your shoulder. 🩷Cait is smart, playful, and inquisitive. You may find her napping in the sink!

As sad as it is, we know there’s a small “window of adoptability” for kittens before they become “big cats” who are often completely ignored. We don’t want that to happen to Rory & Caitlyn. 💔

They are sweet, cuddly, playful, and absolutely wonderful. The whole package. ❤️

They’re still waiting for their lucky break.
