Thank you to our next corporate sponsor + team: Randy Carlson Memorial Tournament

The Randy Carlson Memorial Hockey Tournament is a cancer benefit ironman tournament held annually.

The tournament began as a way to remember former XHL player Randy Carlson, who passed away from melanoma in 2004. The event began in 2005, and after a small hiatus, came back in 2010 and has been held ever since. It was originally played at the Reynoldsville Rollerdrome, but in 2021, the tournament moved to the outdoor court in Brockway, PA where it continues to be held to this day.

The first two tournaments in 2005 and 2006 were meant to remember Randy Carlson and bring awareness to cancer. Thanks to some recommendations from participants, the event began to raise money for charity in 2010.

Since that time, the tournament has raised around $60,000. That money has been donated to several local individuals and families who are battling cancer, to groups like the American Cancer Society, and even to the Hahne Regional Cancer Center in DuBois. We had the honor of presenting checks to two family members of our beneficiaries this year.

Board member Brian Anderson (left) presented a $4,000 check to Matt Lasher, brother of beneficiary Ryan Lasher.

Board member Summer Anderson (left) also presented a $4,000 check to Sam Himes, the daughter of beneficiary Rebecca Witherite.

Unfortunately, due to distance and scheduling conflicts, we weren’t able to meet with every beneficiary in person.

Michael's Warriors Foundation and Randy Carlson Memorial Tournament team are honored to support three local families in need and thankful to everyone who helped make the 2026 tournament another successful event.

The 2026 Michael’s Warriors / Randy Carlson Memorial Tournament is a wrap. We had some new firsts, including 3 co-champions due to a late day drizzle that ended the festivities.

The most important thing though is that we are going to be able to help 3 families in their battles against cancer. We’re excited to announce that we set a new record with $12,000 raised in total. We will be able to give each family $4,000.

We are so appreciative of everyone who sponsored, donated prizes, played in the tournament, participated in our many contests throughout the year, and volunteered to help out in any way.

A special thanks to Michael’s Warriors for their continued generosity and partnership! They are amazing!!

Summer and I would like to personally express our gratitude to our dedicated board members: Tim Herman, Brian Anderson, Dan Fatula, Morgan Lyons, and John Hrusth. They all go above and beyond to make this event extra special for the players and the beneficiaries.

The weather may not have cooperated as we hoped, but it couldn’t put a damper on what we were able to accomplish together. This event showed once again, that a rainbow always follows a storm.

It was another truly great day for hockey!

We have another exciting contest that we are unveiling this year. It’s a “pucks, Bucs, and a little luck envelope contest!”

There will be 87 envelopes. All of them have a prize of some sort in them. Some are small, like a free fountain drink or hot dog at Sheetz, but some have some bigger prizes like Penguins and Pirates tickets or autographed pucks by Lemieux and Fleury.

Stop down and give it a try and buy some raffle tickets while you’re there! We will also be doing the drawings for the Skenes and Fleury jerseys.

We’re excited to announce our prize list for this year’s basket raffle. Remember, if you can’t be there, no problem. We’re going to be trying a brand new contest at this year’s tournament. To do so, we’re looking for some smaller donations of increments in the $5, $10, $20 ranges. Anything from ice cream vouchers, to small gift cards, to free car washes, etc. would be ideal.

If anybody has any connections, or might be willing to help out, we’d appreciate it. More details will be coming at the end of the week. It should add another fun twist to what should be a fantastic tournament!
