There is no safe amount, no safe time, and no safe type of alcohol to consume during pregnancy.

If you had alcohol while pregnant, even before you knew you were pregnant, talk with your child's healthcare provider as soon as possible. They can help check for any affects that might appear over time and connect you with resources and supports.

We all play a role in supporting healthy pregnancies.

WHAT IS SAVE A LIFE DAY?
Save a Life Day is a nationwide day of action that promotoes year-round widespread naloxone access as one solution to the overdose crisis.
Each year, on the fourth Thursday of September, communities across the U.S. set up tables, train neighbors, and give away free naloxone.
What began as a small West Virginia pilot has grown into the country’s largest annual day of free naloxone distribution.
In 2025 alone, communities distributed around 133,000 doses in a single day.

National Recovery Month reminds us that recovery is real. Let’s take a minute to celebrate the strength of the people in recovery, recognize the families and professionals who support them, and remind everyone that recovery is possible. Recovery is a journey no one has to walk alone. This September lets honor the courage of individuals in recovery and the people that help make recovery possible. By reducing stigma and connecting people with support, we can help build a healthier future for everyone.

Individuals with FASD are:

• 25 times more likely to be diagnosed with a psychotic disorder
• 20 times more likely to experience substance use problems
• 10 times more likely to have ADHD

Studies have shown an increased risk for cognitive disorders, mental illness, or psychological disorders among people with FASDs.

With it being back to school time and Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Awareness Month here are some challenges that students with FASD face:

• Hyperactivity, impulsivity, attention and memory difficulties
• May find difficulty when completing tasks
• Potential challenges with social skills
• May struggle to follow and/or understand rules and authority

Here are some successful strategies for educating children with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder include:

• Using concrete, hands-on learning methods
• Establishing structured routines
• Keeping instructions short and simple
• Providing consistent and specific directions
• Reminding of tasks to ensure understanding
