🥕🥦The Healthy Community Zones Grow My Own program is back!🥕🥦

After last year’s success, we are excited to offer gardening education, support, and supplies to community members interested in growing their own vegetables at home.

Previously, the program was limited to WIC clients, but now anyone in the community can apply. Only 60 participants will be selected at random. There are no income or family size requirements, and each family will receive the tools and supplies needed to start their own gardens. Participants will learn how to grow, harvest and store fresh fruits and vegetables with guidance from local farmers and nutrition experts. Applications open March 1st!

This program is made possible through funding from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS).

🎉🎾 FINAL BINGO NIGHT OF THE SEASON! 🎾🎉

Join us one last time this summer for BINGO night on Wednesday, August 27 at 7 PM at Frank J. Sasso Township Hall and help us serve our community in more ways than one!

This week’s BINGO supports much-needed improvements to our township’s tennis and pickleball courts, and we’re also running a Food Pantry Donation Drive to support families right here on Drummond Island. 💛🏡

🥫 FOOD PANTRY DONATION INFO
We’re collecting non-perishable canned goods and shelf-stable food items for the local food bank.
✅ Drop off donations at Township Hall:
• Any day this week during business hours (9 AM to 2 PM)
• Or Wednesday evening when doors open at 6:30 PM for BINGO

Let’s rally as a community to fill the pantry shelves and support our recreational spaces in one fun-filled night!

🎯 HOW TO PARTICIPATE:
1️⃣ Bring Food Pantry Donations this week to help local families in need
2️⃣ Play BINGO — Doors open at 6:30 PM, games begin at 7 PM. Come early, grab a seat, and enjoy the night
3️⃣ Support a Cause — Proceeds from BINGO help fund improvements to our township’s tennis and pickleball courts

Can you believe it’s the end of July already?! 🗓️

While your favorite students squeeze every drop of summer out that they can, we’ve been busy getting ready for back to school! ✏️

Join us August 9 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Athletic Field on Seymore St. in Sault Ste. Marie for our big Back-to-School carnival event 🎒

United Way, The Salvation Army, and MI Dept. of Health and Human Services have worked together to plan an exciting day for families with school aged children.👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

We’ll have LOTS of family resources, information on activities and clubs, FREE lunch, FREE backpacks and school supplies, bounce houses, and more!

Do NOT arrive earlier than 2:00 PM for this distribution. The Big Bear Arena- Chi Mukwa is a facility that operates before, during, and after the distribution. As such, I request that you DO NOT arrive before 2:00 P.M.

When coming to the Big Bear Arena, please take Three Mile Road, turn onto Shunk Road, and then TURN RIGHT onto Bahweting Drive. This will keep all vehicles traveling the same route, making things smoother. Remember, do not block driveways.
