No bling here…just a Thank You!
Just got done with a ride, trying to enjoy fruits of our labor. Unfortunately, as of right now, the trails are on life support, and looking at the forecast, I think the plug will be pulled tomorrow. Took the groomer out last night which will probably be the last time this season. There just isn’t much Shinola out there to polish with.
I want to thank the groomer operators this year. Gene Dubiel, Rick Schuller, Jordan T, Tommy Gustafson, and Mitch Popelka. Along with me, we all had over 340 hours of grooming time this year. All the guys take much pride in making the trails the best they can be. Gene put nearly as many hours in the groomer as I did, and I turn to him often for his expertise and experience.
It seems the groomers usually get the glory. The trails are a team effort. It starts with the property owners who allow the trails and they cannot be thanked enough. Early in the season we had a real mess with downed trees and brush, and it took a group effort in cutting our way through. The White River Ramblers cleared trail 4 from Mason to Delta. Thanks to all who went out and cut trees and getting the trails open.
Even further, work is year-round. Dirt work and trail improvements during the summer make for better trails in the winter. Thanks to Chuck Jerome for making great improvements on a couple of hills on trail 7.
Credit also goes to Lulich Implement and the service team. When the tractor went down in the early season, the service guys got us up and running as quickly as they could. John Mesik made a couple of service calls in the field, they treat us well.
The Town of Drummond is also a huge partner. They allow us to get fuel at the town pump and provide a stall in the shop when repairs or maintenance for the groomer is needed. Hopefully, we will have our own shop completed for next year and have a warm place for maintenance and to let our baby thaw out. Our main fundraiser is the Barstool Races, which is the main funding for the storage and shop building. Thanks to all who worked, planned, supported, and participated in the Barstool Races.
The problem with saying thank you to many folks at one time is that someone sometimes gets overlooked. Since I am a guy with many faults, I’m sure I missed someone, and apologize in advance.
Overall, I think we had a great year with great trails to ride on.
Thanks all,
