Through the efforts of pioneering Friends, the first Library opened in Dripping Springs in 1983, housed in the Dripping Springs High School. A few years later, the Friends initiated a massive effort to secure land and funding for a new facility. In June 1998, the Dripping Springs Community Library opened its doors at his current location (501 Sportsplex Drive). Furniture was acquired and refinishe
d after the Friends visited the University of Texas furniture warehouse; soon after, books came out of storage to fill the shelves. That same year, the Friends of the Dripping Springs Community Library, Inc. was incorporated and granted 501(c)3 nonprofit status. Since then, the FoDSCL has raised thousands of dollars for library programs, collections, services and technologies. Your tax deductible membership in the Friends will help provide much-needed financial support for the Library, for example, children's summer reading events and activities, multi-lingual educational learning computers and programming, adult book clubs, and teen community service opportunities.
