Last weekend was a blast! Our first time at the First in Texas District Championships and we loved soaking it all in from the flying fuel balls, to competitive teams, to robotics in action & being surrounded by passion and drive!

Where Innovation meets inspiration you’ll find a team of problem solvers, hard-workers, and big dreamers.

We’ve built our Treehouse from the ground up and are excited to have been awarded the Engineering Inspiration Award at this weekend’s FIRST in Texas competition at Dripping Springs High School!

Innovation Treehouse and our community-based FIRST robotics team, Recoil, visited our friends the Johnson City Joules at the Science Mill in Johnson City last Saturday. We talked to members of the community about the mission of Innovation Treehouse and its various programs, and, specifically, about FIRST Robotics Competition and Recoil Robotics. We also set up some fun programming games and balloon-powered LEGO cars for visitors. The star attraction, however, was The Untitled Goose Bot, our 2024 competition robot, which is shown here being demonstrated by team member Max. Thank you Johnson City Science Mill and Johnson City Joules for having us. It was a great day!

We're just back from our second district competition, this time in San Antonio. The technical problems that plagued the robot in Waco now appear to have been solved and it performed exactly as intended during this weekend's competition. The drive team performed wonderfully managing to score up to 8 notes in the amplified and perform a climb reliably.

The highlight of the weekend, however, was being awarded the Rookie All Star award which advances us to the State Championships where we get to compete for the same award at the state level.

See you in Houston in a couple of weeks!

Competition season arrived and I completely failed to post updates here - sorry! Here's a recap of our first event in Waco back on February 29th - March 2nd.

The team arrived at Waco with a robot almost ready to compete. Some finishing work on the "goose" (our arm contraption used to pick up and deposit the donut "notes" used in this year's game) was needed but, thanks to a rather lengthy delay on day 1 due to technical problems with the competition field electronics, these were completed in time for our first match. Despite challenges with broken parts that kept the pit crew fully occupied during the weekend, we performed admirably ranking 20th out of 39 team after qualification matches. We ended up playing one finals match as first alternate after one alliance member broke down.

The event ended with us gaining the Rookie Inspiration Award! All in all, the team performed wonderfully in their very first competition and everyone had an enjoyable, if tiring, weekend.

After a week of mulling over this year’s game rules and building our first drivetrain, we drove for a while this morning then got into a day of serious prototyping while mentors and parents build practice field elements.
