Foster Village

Foster Village Creating a village of support for children in the Austin area foster system and their caregivers. Recognized 501(c)(3) tax exempt with the IRS

The mission of Foster Village ® is to come alongside families in the foster care system and families at risk of separation and show them that they are not alone. By Equipping caregivers with critical necessities when a child enters their home, Connecting them with ongoing therapeutic support, and Advocating for community engagement beyond the system, we hope to bridge the gaps for our most vulnera

ble children and families. We know how important connection and stability are, especially during those first (often uncertain and traumatic) days. We also know that there is a community of caring individuals looking for ways to serve these families and children, but are unsure of how to help. It is our hope that we can create practical opportunities for a community that cares to join hands with those in need of support.

This month, some of our favorite local businesses are turning lemons into something really sweet!

Kendra Scott , Hat Creek Burger Company , Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams , Bougie's Donuts & Coffee , Jet's Pizza , ARISE BAKEHOUSE , , , Fitzhugh Brewing , Graceful Spaces Organizing , , , Mazama Coffee Company, and are all giving back this month as part of our Growing the Village is Sweet campaign — and every single dollar supports children and families experiencing foster care right here in our community.

Some are donating a portion of every purchase. Some have special lemon-themed treats just for June. Some have events you won't want to miss. All of them believe that children deserve a village beyond the system.

Shop local. Support families. It doesn't get much sweeter than that. 🍋

It takes a village to pull off our city-wide lemonade stand campaign, and so many groups have been working hard to help us prep for our launch tomorrow!

Here are just a few of the individuals and groups who deserve a big SHOUT OUT!

🍋 For the second year in a row, students from Project Advance Austin at UT chose to work with Foster Village. They helped us navigate and build some behind-the-scenes lemonade stand logistics and even hosted a stand on campus to test what they'd developed, all while raising awareness about kids and families navigating foster care and our mission.

🍋 One of our fabulous ongoing volunteers, Chelsea, hopped in to help our Resource Center Manager, Lisa, assemble lemonade kits at our Oak Haven resource center.

🍋 Volunteers from Austin Ridge Bible Church (Dripping Springs) jumped in to finish all of the last-minute tasks before tomorrow's Growing the Village is Sweet Open House. They beautified the space, added flyers to the lemonade kits, and just prepped all of the odds and ends we needed to welcome everyone.

🍋 The team from Insurance Companies, not only helped assemble more lemonade stand kits (in record time!) but also spent a full day at The PERCH, our North Austin Resource Center, landscaping, deep-cleaning, assembling furniture, and taking a tour that connected them to the families behind every room they worked in.

Want to be part of the sweetest campaign of the summer? Now's a great time to jump in!

Stop by either of our resource centers this Friday between 10 am and 2 pm for our Open House, or sign up here: https://www.fostervillageaustin.org/lp/2026-growing-the-village-is-sweet

Behind every number is a child.
A child who had to leave home.
A sibling who was separated.
A family navigating crisis.

This Foster Care Awareness Month, we’re sharing statistics to remind our community that these stories are happening right here in Texas.

Over 365,000 children and youth are in foster care across the U.S.

Texas has the 2nd highest number of children in foster care in the nation.

Around 16,000 children are currently in care in Texas.
1 in 3 children are sent outside their home region for placement.

50% of children in care are under 10 years old.

Many children experience multiple placements and separation from siblings.

These numbers can feel overwhelming. But they also remind us why community matters so deeply.

Every Welcome Pack assembled, every donation made, every caregiver supported, every volunteer hour given, and every moment of advocacy helps create stability and hope for children and families experiencing foster care.

At Foster Village, we believe no child or caregiver should navigate the child welfare system alone. They deserve a village of support.

All throughout the spring, this community showed up in the most tangible ways!

Samsung's HR team spent a day at The PERCH, our North Austin resource center, unpacking, moving meal kits, organizing donations, and hearing about the real families behind every item on our shelves. By the end of the morning, they were already talking about coming back.

The Vine brought adults, teens, and kids to serve after one of our busy Saturday morning support gatherings for caregivers, deep cleaning, and tackling outdoor projects so the space stays warm and welcoming for the next family who needs it.

And Anna Balthazar and the crew came out to Oak Haven, our Dripping Springs Resource Center, weeded the flower beds, and spent time getting to know the mission up close. One of the kiddos who came looked around at everything on our shelves and asked, “Where does all this stuff come from?” The answer is always the same — the community. People who show up like these three groups did.

Every one of these groups found their place in the village. Yours is here too. Click the link in our bio to get connected.

The team showed up to The PERCH, our North Austin Resource Center, earlier this month, and we still cannot believe the one-day transformation of our five-acre property.

89 sets of hands, all in for the kids and families who are part of this village. They worked on our nature trail, improved playground spaces, built birdhouses, tackled xeriscaping, cleaned up the lookout, organized indoor spaces, and knocked out project after project. They stopped for a quick lunch of tacos from our new friends at and were right back at it, reminding us once again .

Every one of those projects matters for the children and families who walk through our doors daily to pick up essential items, connect with one another, and find support for the complexities of foster care. Their team’s hard work is helping create the kind of welcoming, community-built, nature-centered space where healing happens.

We’re heading into our Open House this Friday as we kick off summer and launch our June Growing the Village is Sweet campaign, and we are more ready than ever because of what poured into this place. 💛

Even the kiddos around Foster Village have heard the news — we’re featured in Volume 13 of The Scout Guide Austin. ✨

Each year, The Scout Guide handpicks two nonprofits to feature alongside Austin's local businesses, and this year, we are so honored to be one of them.

Two weeks ago, we got to be in the room for the launch party, and it was such a beautiful night. Incredible people, authentic energy, and a reminder of the power of community.

Visit the link in our bio or pick up your copy at one of our resource centers!

We've loved watching so many students show up for their peers this spring!

Houston is a senior who was completing his community service project. Last year, he hosted a diaper drive to stock the shelves at our resource centers. This year, he reached out and asked what we needed most. And within a couple of days, the call went out, and he'd collected $555 worth of teen hygiene products!

His mom, Kristen, has been part of this village from the early days, having served on our board and helped sculpt some of our earliest events, including the gala.

And the 11th-grade Civics class at .Classical came to The PERCH, donated baby items, and helped clean up the space to be ready to welcome families coming to pick up essentials.

It's inspiring to watch the next generation become the village, and we're grateful for all these students contributed!
