Q: What is a call?

A: Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) software uses the term "call" for each event involving an officer. Sometimes a "call" starts with a phone call to the Sheriff's Office. However, most "calls" are officer initiated - like traffic stops.

The number of calls remains fairly consistent when you have the same number of officers on patrol. One officer can only make so many traffic stops during a shift. If that officer is involved in a More time consuming event, like a burglary investigation or accident report, then he won't be able to generate new activity and calls might go down. So, the primary driver of call volume is officer availability and not public demand. If a person cites call volume as an indication of crime trends, she is misleading her readers.

TETON COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE SEIZES OVER 20,000 DOSES OF CO***NE DURING TRAFFIC STOP

VICTOR, ID - The Teton County Sheriff’s Office successfully interdicted a major narcotics shipment following a traffic stop on Pine Creek Pass earlier this week. The stop, conducted on November 10, 2025, by a Corporal with the Sheriff’s Office, resulted in the seizure of co***ne with an estimated street value exceeding $100,000.

The incident began when the Corporal initiated a traffic stop near Victor after observing multiple violations. The Corporal determined the driver, Alejandro Rene Morales of Victor, did not possess a valid driver’s license.

While investigating driving privileges, the Corporal observed factors that led him to suspect criminal activity. He requested consent to search the vehicle, which was granted by the driver. The subsequent search uncovered more than one kilogram of co***ne concealed in the vehicle.

The Corporal arrested both the driver, Alejandro Rene Morales, and the passenger, Ignacio Contreras Chaves of Jackson, Wyoming. Both individuals have been booked into custody on felony charges of Drug Trafficking in Co***ne.

Sheriff Clint Lemieux emphasized the significance of the seizure: “This is a win for Teton County. Teton County Deputies will continue to work hard to keep our schools and community safe.”

The Teton County Sheriff’s Foundation congratulates the Sheriff and Corporal for their work. This incident highlights the need for investment in training and resources to empower local law enforcement to stop high-level felony crimes before they harm our citizens.

The Teton County Sheriff’s Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing equipment, training, and resources to the Teton County Sheriff’s Office and improving public safety.
