The world has been served a great injustice. My dear sister, Caroline Menzies Ashby , a beloved mother, sister, and friend to many has been wrongfully accused, convicted and sentenced to prison for crimes that she did not commit. She has been long tyrannized by an ex-husband driven by anger and animosity, who has stopped at nothing to alienate Caroline from her son whom she loves so endlessly. The
relentless pursuit of her ex-husband, along with many now apparent flaws in the Utah justice system have allowed the state prosecutor to present a case that convinced a jury to convict Caroline of sexually abusing her son. THESE CHARGES ARE A COMPLETE FABRICATION. I strongly believe in my sister, with every bit of my heart, mind, and soul. She would never harm anyone, especially her own son. I believe the prosecution did not seek truth, nor justice, rather just wanted to put someone away for a horrible crime. I would consider the tactics of the prosecution to be acts of malpractice, not in pursuit of justice or truth. The decisions of the District courts to not allow certain evidence in cases like this has denied Caroline the ability to fairly defend herself in trial. We wanted full disclosure of every fact spanning several years in this case, but the limited scope of the trial has truly deprived Caroline her Constitutional right to a fair trial. The decisions of the court have helped to expedite the incarceration of many bad people, but in doing so these decisions have made it easier to convict innocent people as well. Caroline's Appeals have been exhausted, however there are still ongoing Post-Conviction hearings. These events sadden and anger me to no end, but I cannot fathom the pain that Caroline has already endured, and fear the pain that she has yet to experience. The world needs to know about this travesty. I WILL NOT LET MY BELOVED SISTER BECOME A STATISTIC! SHE IS INNOCENT, AND MY NEPHEW DOES NOT DESERVE ONE MORE SECOND AWAY FROM HIS MOM!!!
