Intellectual and developmental disabilities, chronic pain, mental health conditions, autoimmune disorders, and so much more can impact someone's everyday life without being immediately apparent to others.

Good company, a little friendly competition, and a great cause. What more could you ask for? ⛳

The Next Step Programs was represented at Coffee Closet with Barista Jake’s sixth annual “Fore the Kids Charity Golf Outing!" They enjoyed a fun day on the course while helping support Barista Jake's inclusive initatives! ☕

We love seeing our community come together for events like these, and we can’t wait for the next one! 💜

Where has Livin’ the Dream taken Lucas lately? 👀

🐐 At Rose Bridge Farm, Lucas got up close with some adorable baby goats and even had the chance to hold and feed them!

🚂 At Northlandz Miniature Wonderland & Train Museum, he explored an incredible world of model trains, miniature landscapes, and detailed little scenes.

🎃 A visit to Peddler's Village gave Lucas the chance to check out all the creative scarecrows on display throughout the town.

🗿 At Grounds For Sculpture, he wandered through the gardens and took in the unique sculptures and artwork all around.

Along side his direct support professional, Kailey, Lucas has taken full advantage of his time on In-Home & Community Supports, exploring new places and enjoying experiences throughout his community. 💜

This is person-centered planning in action! 🚘

Direct Support Professional Kristi, knows Dane, Kiran, and Luke love cars, so she plans Explore outings to visit different dealerships around the area and give them opportunities to enjoy something they’re genuinely passionate about.

These trips also give the group a chance to connect over a shared interest while learning more about the cars they see along the way.

It’s National Disability Employment Awareness Month, and we’re highlighting why we love working with inclusive employers right here in our own backyard!

First up: The Learning Experience in Doylestown!

When we asked owner Jen Eckfield why Ocean and Jagger are such a great fit at The Learning Experience, her answer said it all: “I don’t really think it’s even TLE. I think that every child is, you know, teachable, and every person is employable. It doesn’t matter what the ability is. Everybody is employable. So, it’s not just really about TLE; it’s just that’s always the way I’ve thought.”

That mindset carries through the entire team, who love having Ocean and Jagger as part of their workplace family. As Jen put it, “They’re just happy. They love coming to work. And they love the kids. And the kids love them!

They’re in the classroom with Ms. Kirsten. So they’re there for as many hours as they work. They do whatever she needs them to do in the classroom, whether it’s getting lunch ready, cleaning up, helping pass things out, playing with the kids. They move around the building, and they know everyone.” 📚

We love seeing Ocean and Jagger thrive with such a supportive team, and we’re so grateful to Jen and everyone at TLE for creating a workplace where they belong.

We’ll leave you with Jen’s advice for other employers interested in inclusive employment. We couldn’t have said it better ourselves:

“It’ll change your world. It’ll better your world. It’ll better your people. It’ll better yourself. You’ll learn as well, more than they will. Everyone’s employable. Doesn’t matter what it is.” 💜

The Next Step Programs is excited to volunteer with Sine Timore Theatre Company once again! 💜

In preparation for their upcoming production of "Spamalot," our Explore groups are helping create pieces of the stage set and props.

This is a great opportunity for our participants to put their creativity and art skills to use while connecting with Sine Timore’s owner, Megan.

Thumbs up for our recent Fall Friends Night Outs! 🍂

At Manoff Market Gardens & M2 Cidery LLC, we got a behind-the-scenes look during our tour of the c***ry and learned about how the c***r is made. Of course, we had to try some for ourselves! We wrapped up our visit with a little friendly competition with corn hole and giant Jenga. 🍎

Over at Hellerick's Adventure Farm, we took a hayride around the farm, worked our way through the corn maze and explored the many other activities the farm had to offer! With so much to explore, our group had plenty of opportunities to have fun and enjoy time together! 🌽🐐

💪 Will recently joined our amazing Livin’ the Dream crew, and he’s already been busy building healthy habits!

Through our In-Home & Community Supports program, Will is finding fun ways to stay active and take care of himself. When asked why healthy habits are important, he shared, “It’s important to have healthy habits to have a healthy body...”

🏀 Whether he’s hitting the gym, shooting hoops with friends, or getting outside for a walk, Will is finding ways to stay active while enjoying the activities he loves!
