Our Scouts had a Wild Western Weekend with a trip to Cowtown Rodeo in NJ. Bull and bronc riding, roping and barrel racing (and a few sing-alongs) made for a fun night! They stayed at the beautiful Scouting America Garden State Council Roosevelt Scout Reservation. While surprise upgraded to a lodge with beds and a/c, most of the scouts decided to "rough it" and sleep in their hammocks among the trees.

The end of the week is always exhilarating and heartbreaking. Scouts make sure they fit in all of the lessons they wanted to take while filling free time with available adventures. The second half of Camp Week brought flint & steel fire building, whittling, rain tarp showers, welding, knot tieing, retiring American flags, and our OA Marcelo assisting Don Woodling with slingshot at a special Cub night event held at Ockanickon Scout Reservation.

Thanks again for squeezing us (and several other troops) in for the week! We all had a blast with what was possibly your biggest camp week ever!

Scouts have been having a blast at camp! Eric is really enjoying studying game design. Brad is enjoying welding and automotive maintenance. Henry is thoroughly enjoying welding. Marcelo is enjoying automotive maintenance. David is enjoying cooking. Rose is loving astronomy. They've been playing gaga ball and getting their steps in running from one side of camp to the other for their activities. Last night was The Carnival, themed with Revolutionary period games and leather branding and Eric guided Brad on a blindfolded climb up the tower wall.

Did you know Ockanickon Scout Reservation has a fun Coffee Drinking Merit Badge for the leaders? It includes an educational course, real life experience (drinking daily) and service (brewing a pot in the cafeteria). Our Troop 24 Doylestown leaders at camp aren't big coffee fanatics, but Don Woodling (his granddaughter is a member and is spending her summer as a counselor at camp!) is making sure 24 is getting our drinking ounces in and getting his forms signed by his Troop 24 SPL.

6 of our Scouts set off for Resica Falls Scout Reservation yesterday morning, only to learn during the drive that the area surrounding camp had sustained significant damage in the storms and camp would have no power most of this week. With some quick leadership thinking and very accommodating staff, Troop 24 is now bunked up with our friends of Troop 1B Sellersville at Ockanickon Scout Reservation. Here's to a week of merit badges and the comradery you can only get from Scout Summer Camp!
