Sailcloth is instrumental music written to explore the spaces of small melodies on big instruments. They will be featured at Music For Bookshops — a new series presented by The Doylestown Bookshop + Stage United with live instrumentals from the worlds of jazz, ambient, classical, and lo-fi.

Pick a book off the shelf and stay for the music.

Music for Bookshops continues with Sailcloth on October 15 at The Doylestown Bookshop. This is a three-part fall collab with the bookshop featuring live instrumentals amongst the shelves, complete with mocktails + cocktails from Hops/Scotch

Sailcloth is instrumental music written to explore the spaces of small melodies on big instruments. Upright bass played by Alex Luquet and harp played by Chelsea Smarr spend time creating ambience from these songs to improvise with and explore the sound of the barns, forests, and bookshops they find themselves playing in.

The final Concerts at the Commons of 2026 is this Thursday, September 24th with Driftwood + Katelynn Casper and the Night Bloom. This is not-to-be-missed!

Hailing from the Southern Tier of New York, in the post-industrial city of Binghamton, Driftwood is one of the brightest new acts to come out of the area’s music scene. Formed in 2006 by what was first a simple collaboration between two friends bent on traveling the country playing folk music, they have turned into one of the hardest-working bands in the business.

Driftwood’s shapeshifting approach to folk music continues to break new ground. And yet in many ways the band’s latest work, the transformative December Last Call, finds the group coming home.

Self proclaimed "fiddle rat", Katelynn Casper and her band The Night Bloom will open the show. Through the fabric of their love for hard driving bluegrass, the band weaves threads of swing, classic country, and old time fiddling into original songs and timeless standards.

Stage United is so excited to present Jim Saah’s photography at Native Cafe in Doylestown starting August 20th.

This exhibit will feature photos of punk and hardcore legends such as: Fugazi, Minor Threat, Void, Black Flag, Circle Jerks, Dead Kennedys, Jawbox, Government Issue, The Faith, IronCross and more. But Saah’s musical palette wasn’t just confined to punk rock, as evidenced by the inclusion of The Cramps, The Pixies, Lou Reed, Guided by Voices, Fishbone, Wilco, to name a few.
