Four brothers. Same company. Same war.

Albert, William, Harry, and Charles Atkinson all served in Company G during World War I. Four sons from one Doylestown family, all in uniform at the same time.

Albert R. Atkinson, Jr. — our namesake — was killed in action in France on September 7, 1918. He was a Sergeant. He was 24.

When our founders gathered at Colonel George Ross's law office in August 1919 to charter this Post, they chose Albert's name. Not a general. Not a politician. A local kid who didn't come home.

That decision says everything about who we are.

August is quieter around town — and that’s often when steady support matters most. Monthly donations help keep the lights on, the building maintained, and the mission moving forward at Post 210. Your generosity ensures this corner of Doylestown remains a home for veterans and a gathering place for the community.

Over the past 2 ½ years, the Post Membership has raised approximately 50% of the $750,000 needed for repair and renovations of the Post Building, which was

This past Friday, Auxiliary Unit 210 hosted its annual Auxiliary Tea — an afternoon of fellowship, friendship, and a chance to celebrate the women who keep our Post strong. Under the leadership of President Becky Krout, the Auxiliary supports Keystone Girls State, the Americanism Essay Contest, Wreaths Across America, and more. They're a vital part of everything Post 210 does.

Reminder: trauma-informed yoga continues every Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Post, in partnership with Meghan's Foundation. Open to all veterans.

August can be quiet, but the Legion never really slows down. Behind the scenes, meetings still happen, plans are made, and people check in on one another. Community isn’t just about big events — it’s about consistency, and showing up even when no one’s watching.

Seven Gold Star mothers sat in the front row the day our Post home was dedicated on January 21, 1934.

Seven families who gave everything.

Commander Andrew Schott financed the building himself — no public fundraising, no campaigns. He just did it. And when Lt. Governor Thomas Shannon addressed the crowd, he spoke directly to those seven women.

We think about that a lot. A room full of veterans, dignitaries, and community members — but the real guests of honor were the mothers who sent their sons to war and got flags back.

That building on North Street still stands. So does what it represents.
