Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) empowers veterans and families of fallen heroes to develop character in future generations. In 2007, 1st Lt Travis Manion (USMC) was killed in Iraq while saving his wounded teammates. Today, Travis' legacy lives on in the words he spoke before leaving for his final deployment, "If Not Me, Then Who..." Guided by this mantra, veterans continue their service, develop st

rong relationships with their communities, and thrive in their post-military lives. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation's heroes live on in the next generation.

Honor the 31 heroes of EXTORTION 17. 🇺🇸

On August 6, 2011, a CH-47 Chinook helicopter carrying 30 American service members and one military working dog was shot down in Afghanistan during a mission in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Their sacrifice marked the deadliest day in Naval Special Warfare history, but their legacy continues to live on through remembrance, community, and action.

This August, join Spartans across the country for the virtual EXTORTION 17 Memorial Run/Ruck as we honor the fallen and carry their memory forward.

Choose your challenge:
🏃 3.1-mile virtual run
🏃 31-mile commitment throughout August

All participants receive the official 2026 EXTORTION 17 t-shirt, with rucking division participants also receiving the commemorative patch. Proceeds directly support TMF’s mission to empower veterans and families of the fallen to lead and serve in their communities.

June is PTS Awareness Month — a time to raise awareness, break stigma, and remind those struggling with Post Traumatic Stress that they are not alone.

At TMF, we believe healing happens through connection, purpose, and community. Every day, veterans, families of the fallen, and survivors continue to show incredible strength by sharing their stories, supporting one another, and leading through service.

This month and every month, we honor that courage and reaffirm our commitment to standing beside those impacted by PTS. 🇺🇸

In 2007, 1stLt Travis Manion, USMC, planned to run the Marine Corps Marathon with his father, Col. Tom Manion, and his best friend and fellow Naval Academy graduate, LT (SEAL) Brendan Looney, USN.

Before race day, Travis gave the ultimate sacrifice in Iraq while serving our nation.

That October, Brendan, Tom, Travis’ sister Ryan, and family and friends came together to complete the race in Travis’ honor, starting a tradition that still runs strong today.

Since then, Team TMF Spartans have shown up each year at the Marine Corps Marathon to honor the fallen and carry their legacies forward, one mile at a time.

This year, you can run with Team TMF at the Marine Corps Marathon and carry on the tradition of running in honor of those who gave everything. 🇺🇸

A few snapshots from recent service projects that showcase the people whose dedication makes this mission possible each day.

As TMF Chapters continue to grow nationwide, we’re grateful for the support of The USAA Foundation in helping expand this work and empower more veterans, families of the fallen, and supporters to lead in their own communities.

Thank you to every volunteer carrying the “If Not Me, Then Who…” spirit forward.

Over Memorial Day weekend, more than 2,500 volunteers came together across 78 locations, including our first international site, to honor 10,000 fallen heroes through The Honor Project. 🇺🇸

From placing commemorative tokens at gravesites to taking a moment to reflect on lives of service and sacrifice, each act of remembrance ensured that our nation's heroes were not forgotten.

To every volunteer, veteran, family member, and supporter who helped make this year's Honor Project our most impactful yet, thank you.

At Arlington National Cemetery for The Honor Project, Catherine Alexander and Jillian Dietz shared the story of their brother, LtCol Thomas A. Budrejko, carrying forward his legacy through remembrance, reflection, and service. 🇺🇸

After attending TMF’s PR Service Expedition earlier this year, this marked their first activation back in the community together and an opportunity to honor and speak about the brother they lost.

Thomas served with 1stLt Travis Manion in Iraq, and Catherine carries an additional bond as a fellow USNA classmate of Travis. Their presence at The Honor Project was a powerful reminder that the legacies of our fallen heroes continue to bring people together long after their service.

Thank you, Catherine and Jillian, for honoring Thomas’ life and sharing his story with the next generation.

Today, we pause to honor Sgt. Tofiga Tautolo. 🇺🇸

Tofiga was born on August 31, 1988, and joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 2006, right after high school. He later transitioned to the U.S. Army in 2010. He proudly served his country, completing two tours in Iraq and two tours in Afghanistan.

Above all, Tofiga was known for his deep love of family and his unwavering care for others. He made sure his wife and son always knew they were his greatest priority, and he extended that same sense of family to every soldier in his unit, always welcoming them into his home and his heart.

His legacy lives on through his surviving spouse, Rita Tautolo, who continues to serve others through the community at Travis Manion Foundation as a SeaTac Chapter Leader in Washington, a Character Does Matter Mentor, and an Expedition Mentor. Through TMF, she has found a community that allows her to carry forward his legacy by continuing to lead, mentor, and serve others in his honor.

What started as one family honoring 1stLt Travis Manion, USMC, has grown into a nationwide movement empowering veterans, families of the fallen, and the next generation to lead and serve in their communities.

This message was shared at our Spartan Leadership Summit (SLS), where our most engaged volunteers come together to strengthen and carry forward the mission. We’re grateful to H-E-B for their support of SLS and making this event possible.

The mission continues because of this community. Thank you for being part of it.

This Memorial Day, we honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. 🇺🇸

This past weekend at Arlington National Cemetery, Amy Looney, President of TMF and Gold Star spouse, reflected on Memorial Day, the enduring brotherhood between 1stLt Travis Manion, USMC and LT (SEAL) Brendan Looney, USN, and the importance of remembering the fallen not just today, but every day.

Through The Honor Project, Travis Manion Foundation continues to honor the lives and legacies of our nation’s heroes by ensuring their stories are never forgotten. Their sacrifice lives on through the communities, families, and fellow service members who continue to carry their legacy forward.

Today, we encourage you to pause, reflect, and honor those who gave everything for our freedom.
