This week, TMF families of fallen heroes are in Palmer for a 7-day Service Expedition centered on healing, service, and character.

Alongside our friends at The 98 Fund - The Alaska Project, participants are honoring the legacy of their loved ones, building connections and pushing themselves in meaningful ways.

Today, we honor all the dads, father figures, mentors, and Spartans who lead by example every single day.

We especially hold close the memories of the brave fathers we have lost, and the resilient families continuing to carry their legacies forward. From those who have served our nation to those who serve as pillars of strength in our communities, thank you for showing up for the next generation. You teach our youth what it truly means to look outside of themselves and live with honor.

Happy Father's Day to the men who show us every day what it means to embody, "If Not Me, Then Who..."

SFC Nicholas Guard, U.S. Army, lived with quiet strength, deep humility, and an unwavering love for his family, teammates, and country. As a Green Beret, Nick was the kind of leader who made everyone around him feel seen, welcomed, and valued.

Whether he was serving alongside his team, making people laugh with his endless humor, or hosting friends and family with his signature aloha spirit, Nick led with heart in every part of his life. He was respected not only for his excellence and determination, but for his kindness, humility, and the way he cared so deeply for others.

Since his sacrifice in 2022, Nick’s legacy continues to live on through those who love him most, especially his wife, Cydney, and their children. Today, Cydney continues to honor his legacy through TMF as a Character Does Matter Mentor and through participation in a TMF Service Expedition, carrying forward Nick’s spirit of service, brotherhood, laughter, and love for the next generation.

Next week, TMF’s 2026 Alaska Expedition begins. Families of the fallen will spend the week serving at , building connections, and ending their trip with the powerful climb up Gold Star Peak.

Gold Star Family member Monica Velez experienced that same climb during a past Expedition. After losing her brothers, Cpl. Jose A. Velez in 2004 and Spc. Andrew Velez in 2006, Monica found purpose and community through TMF.

She shared that standing on Gold Star Peak was the moment she felt closest to her brothers.

As this year’s families prepare for their own ascent, we honor Monica’s story and the legacies of Jose and Andrew.

Mass Deployment brought volunteers from across the country to Philadelphia to serve, lead, and strengthen communities through action.

A closer look at our official 2026 Extortion 17 Memorial Run/Ruck shirt! 👕🇺🇸

This shirt honors the 31 service members lost onboard EXTORTION 17 on August 6, 2011, in Afghanistan.

There are three different ways to support or participate:
1️⃣ Walk, run, or ruck 3.1 miles
2️⃣ Run or ruck 31 miles anywhere, anytime throughout the month of August
3️⃣ Host a shadow run in your local area and invite family and friends to join
