Kindergarten students were in class outside, and the School Director asked us to help raise money for a classroom. We are proud to have raised the funds to build and hire Dominican workers as well as provide 60 backpacks and 120 notebooks (purchased through locally and Dominican-owned school supply store). We also raised funds for the twenty families in the community struggling the most with food insecurity for 6 days of food.

Please support our girls’ empowerment after school sports program or our after school English language immersion program.

Giving Tuesday is tomorrow, and we wanted to share a little about our recently launched English language immersion and girls’ sports programs in the Dominican Republic. We partner with the local school leaders in Jamao al Norte to offer programs intended to create long term job opportunities through speaking English and giving girls additional reasons to stay in school through team sports.

We know there are a lot of demands on everyone’s budgets right now, and we appreciate your considering supporting our efforts.

In partnership with the local public school, we are launching an after school English Language Immersion Program for children in grades K-6. Local leaders have asked for this as English fluency will significantly impact future job opportunities. Students will receive instruction in English for an ad...

Thank you to all who donated to the after school English language immersion program in Jamao al Norte, Dominican Republic. This program was formed in partnership with the local public school, and classes are held there.

Classes started this week. Monday and Wednesday classes are held for grades K-2. Tuesdays and Thursdays are for grades 3-6. Fridays are for middle school. We’re creating local jobs paying fair trade wages while furthering their local goals for educational sustainability.

Hunger in the Dominican Republic and Costa Rica is a significant and growing problem. Soup kitchens and food pantries cannot be found in these countries as they are here. And now that children are attending school by watching television in both countries, families are often responsible for providing lunch for their children as well.

For those who were not able to donate the first time but are still looking toward their holiday and end of year donations, we would love more sponsorships to spread Christmas joy and feed families who can use some support now more than ever. Please Give a Christmas Dinner.

Hunger and food insecurity are growing problems - especially for those in the world living in extreme poverty. School in many parts of the world is by watching your classes on television or listening to them on the radio. Add to that the fact that stomachs are too often empty. Please consider giving a Christmas dinner to a family in need. We'll provide you with a quick video of thank you from the family you support.

Empowering our Community. Strengthing our Families.

ILI Foundation started for multiple reasons. First, we saw a need in our community for volunteer work that places locally-defined goals first. Second, we realized that - perhaps now more than ever - we need to work to find ways further build our family experiences in relation to our community. Lastly, we have witnessed firsthand the value of crossing cultures and also working with our neighbors abroad on their locally-defined sustainability goals.

In short, the ILI Foundation is looking for ways to build stronger communities and stronger families.
