Information and Resources – August 23, 2026

As response efforts on the Hawk Fire continue, please remain alert to changing evacuation areas, road closures and fire conditions. Residents in and around impacted areas should continue monitoring official updates closely and be prepared to act if conditions change.

UPDATES:
There is a temporary opening of the southbound US 395 on-ramps at White Lake Parkway and Village Parkway to allow traffic to exit the area.
Northbound US 395 remains closed from Parr Boulevard to Red Rock Road.

▪️School Closures:
All Washoe County School District schools, with the exception of Gerlach K-12 School, will be closed Monday, August 24.
▪️Evacuation Center:
Reno-Sparks Convention Center, Hall 4

Access the evacuation center from Kietzke Lane and enter through Door 20F on the Kietzke Lane side.
▪️Small Animal Evacuations:
Please do not bring pets to the evacuation center. Small animals can be taken to:

The Evelyn Mount Northeast Community Center is NO longer the evacuation site for the . We are moving to the Reno Sparks Convention Center- Hall 4 (4590 S. Virginia Street, Reno).

The American Red Cross of Nevada, Washoe County Human Services Agency and Allied Security are there with blankets, beds, food and drinks. Please stay safe, Washoe.

UPDATE | Hawk Fire Traffic

In connection with the Hawk Fire evacuations, all northbound traffic on US 395 is closed beginning at Parr Boulevard.

Residents evacuating from areas north of Red Rock Road must use US 395 to travel north out of the area.

Southbound US 395 remains open for evacuation traffic. Once on US 395, all off-ramps are closed between Red Rock Rd. and Parr Blvd., and motorists must remain on the highway as they travel south toward Reno.

Please avoid the area unless necessary and allow emergency personnel room to safely continue response operations.

Please reserve 911 and emergency dispatch lines for emergencies only so they remain available for those who need immediate assistance.
