Tampa Theatre renovations are well underway and scaffolding encompasses the space. Renovations/updates include a/c, plumbing, wiring and updating sound system. Restoration to the plaster work and repainting back to the original colors. It all started with deep cleaning of all the painted plaster and statues in the Duncan Auditorium. Tours are available to members on a first come basis. Tickets go really fast so if you get an email regarding a tour act fast. Movies are still being shown but in the smaller screening room and of course the popcorn is still fantastic.

NEIGHBORHOOD MEETING - MAY 21ST, 6:45 to 8PM
Place: Herman Massey Park hosted by DRANA. Come experience this newly renovated park with all the amenities our neighborhood has been asking for which is located on the corner of Franklin and Tyler streets. Tampa Police Captain Emilione and her squad will be there to meet neighbors and answer your questions. Herman Massey has a large dog park so bring your buddies and fur buddies. It will be fun.
We need to also start considering how we can join with the city to keep this park clean and safe.

Herman Massey Park was dedicated Tuesday the 21st. Drana's former president Kim Puleo was there and gave a speech. She spoke about the eight long years it took to get approval and funds. There are two dog enclosures, one for big and one for small. Lots of benches, table and chairs. Bring your lunch and bring your dog and chess sets. See you there.

The former general manager of Pearl on Water St. is opening a New Mexican restaurant where the former Melting Pot restaurant at 105 W Tyler St. was located. La Victoria (what a beautiful name) will keep the original layout of the bar, which was great. The balance of the space will be reimagined. This is a great space a block from the Straz.

When was your last visit to the Tampa Museum of Art. There are so many new exhibits with so much to see. These paintings are part of the new Avant Garde exhibit of women artists. The works in the exhibit are uniquely different, courageous and include many creative practices. Mernet Larsen's The Raft and Carol Pickett and Robert Stackhouse's Three Carbon Catchers are great examples of what you will experience.
